DEMENTIA , SPECIAL NEEDS ETC- desperate need to be able to control the Oculus for those who can’t

Hi everyone at Oculus/Meta. Basically, my mum has dementia and I’ve bought a Quest 2 for her, I have found it’s like a ray of sunshine as her current world is very depressing as she’s not able to go out and has nothing essentially to look forward to of a day. If I and others were able to operate the headset for the user (my mum in my case) via a smart phone or tablet or the existing Oculus controllers in another way - a mirror etc it would be a revelation as she just can’t coordinate or understand what to do at her age and condition. I’m currently having to stand or sit in front of her whilst casting to my TV and try to operate the Oculus but it’s very difficult and it just ends up with the headset being taken on/off all the time. I understand that old people’s home etc are trying to use VR but for the millions of people living at home (my mum lives with me) it would be such an easy twist software wise on what is already out there in the form of the Q2 and I believe would open huge markets for you and help so my lives become so much more positive. If you have a PC which is strong enough to play VR games, maybe you can try AirLink which comes with your headset or one of the other wireless options like ALVR or Virtual Desktop(might have additional steps). I am mentioning this since when linking to a PC which is running the VR game instead of the headset, what you see on your PC screen is the same (well maybe smaller FOV) than what she can see and without that delay you would normally experience when casting to a TV.

I am about to become a companion for a woman with dementia.  Wondering how it is going with your mum?  Any new insights.  Her granddaughter is going away to college and wondering if it may be a valueable tool for them to stay in touch?  This women will not remember that her husband passed away many years ago.  They also used to play tennis together.  Wondering if an avatar can be created with his image and they get back on the court?  A little scarry to think about but she lives in a different reality and everyday makes a difference in the quality of her life

Despite the shown usefulness of helping folk with dementia Meta and other software producers don't seem to be even remotely interested in this field. They just don't seem to have the imagination to think beyond games.

I've searched far and wide but the only software I can find is bespoke stuff made for care homes and as a result it's prohibitively expensive for single users.

Very, very disappointing.
