This suggestion is for future VR headsets:  "palpebra tertia" (the inner eyelid) is common to many animals, it serve to protect the eyes (you can read more from this article). https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-do-cats-have-an-inner/

People seems likely interested to play outdoors other than for indoor use sometimes people are reporting sun damaged displays as you can see from this Reddit community that not exist if there were a mechanism to protect the lenses, something like a mechanical palpebra tertia: https://www.reddit.com/r/itssundamageyouidiot/s/gBVi9Rnchq

to be clear: a sensor see the sunlight, if the direct sunlight touch the sensor the "palpebra tertia mechanism" close to protect both screens. The "palpebra tertia mechanism" is mounted in between the lenses and the screens.

it would not work if battery charge reaches 0%.
