I haven’t made an avatar so my character just shows up as a grey man. I don’t care what the avatar looks like, but I don’t want to have to see the arms or torso! Is there any way to disable the avatar or go back to the original oculus transparent hands?

edit: In the comments the feature seems to be in the works!

"at the time being we don't have a disabling option and believe this is a very good idea!"

Whatgehtse I don't know what to say.

Seems more like sabotage than a very good idea to me.

I really hope they give an option to toggle it off. I can try to hold my arms down so I can't see them, and try to avoid the mirrors, but it makes it awkward to use. The body morphing with weird IK animations bug out and block the view sometimes. I feel a bit more queasy than with just the hands, which seem to have much better tracking.

This is a request I hope goes through. I felt much more comfortable with the floating hands. The new 'arms'  distort in weird ways that make them very disorienting, and also block the view of the environment in some situations.

i agree! the first option i looked for after being forced into horizon migrating from facebook to meta.
turning off the ridiculous avatar and the mirror at menu...

Also voicing a request to make it an option to choose the ghost hands.

I've been introducing people at work to VR in the lead up to Xmas and multiple people have commented on how odd the arms/hands are.

This was never something I heard about the ghost hands when showcasing the Quest 2 in the past...

I’ve also seen the same at work, big, big pushback on the look of the arms from team members who got this upgrade. I agree with many of the comments above; just because the horizon app has a deliberately cartoonish look, there are many experiences that people are loading on the headset which strive for - and, in many cases, require realism. Having the entry point to these experiences require the user to cross to the other side of uncanny valley seriously undermines the effort our developers have put into making realistic, immersive experiences. It’s decisions like this which are driving professional users away from Meta and towards Pico.

I can't believe this answer. The arms are horrible. They always react weirdly. Motion sickness is instant. Not recommending Quest 2 to anyone now. As there is no way to disbale them, our Quest 2 has legit been hijacked. This makes me even want to request a refund for the whole thing.

Why are we being forced to get these goofy looking plastic arms, when it wasn't even a problem before? They are too distracting, and when you put the controller in the other hand to like, crack your knuckles, it looks like you're having an aneurysm. Either fix this, and make it look like we don't have arms made in a 3d printer, or just give us a freaking option to turn it off, its really not that hard. Personally, I would do both.

NO! I hate this new arms. It scares me and I would not use my quest till it disapear. It compleatly ruins my immersion. Stop doing things like this or next year i am gonna go for other headset!
