I bought the 128GB Meta Quest 2, it's been one month in and I've already exceeded my Storage. Unfortunately there is no expandable storage slot for micro-SD.
Once you've bought a headset, you're unlikely to upgrade the headset to the higher capacity version. When your storage runs out, you have to uninstall apps and rotate between the ones you are playing and those that have been completed. That's not necessary if you can just add more storage.
On Android, we can choose devices that include expandable storage and configure phones to launch games from the expandable storage. The speeds of modern micro-SD cards can deliver a comparible level of performance with minimal latency.
Meta Quest being an Android device is capable of a similar experience.
For future generations of Horizon headsets, the experience can be improved by allowing us to add additional storage.
To address concerns about latency and performance, limiting compatibility to high-performance cards like the UHS-I or UHS-II types and labeling them as 'Meta Quest verified' would ensure a consistent experience. Similar to the upgraded hard drives for the Xbox and PlayStation.
