Quest 3 color passthrough is cool.  But we no longer have access to the IR camera feed, for night vision.  This would be nice to be able to toggle between.  The IR feed is useful for those who have IR floodlights and use their devices in darkness.   IR passthrough is helpful to find things in complete darkness, without needing to turn on room lights and disturbing others.

This is super needed, I know multiple people with quest 2's, myself included who aren't planning to upgrade to a quest 3 yet because of this loss of functionality, it's tough seeing a new model be a downgrade in accessibility and see this feature neglected when it could be easily brought forward more and advertised as a feature because a lot of people would use it. This would be such an easy feature to implement, please just give us access.

I'm actually quite disappointed to of lost that ability the Q2 had, even if it wasn't actually intended to have that ability.  I got the Q3 for the full color which isn't as crystal clear as all the hype portrays which was disappointing already. Now I find out there is no IR vision.  I figured if anything it would of been improved on and featured on Q3.  I do like the Q3 but it is over rated an over priced for what it is. A few added  sensors on a smart phone and Google cardboard and you have a perfect VR/AR headset.  Just my thoughts.  I heard Samsung and Google might be coming together to make one soon. I'm sure Meta Quest will have to really step up thier game or lose thier leading edge on the market. Apple is already competing. We shall see.

Hey @ everyone

Since we all want this feature, can we come up with an idea on how to push this into Metas Development? Feedback or SUpport lines / Anybody here with a bigger company who could push ask for this feature.

technically the black White / IR cams are still used for tracking. sadly in the current SDK even though we can apply color filters i have found no solution to access the IR spectrum. If we would come together and push for this feature as a developers option this could lead to meta listening. we obviously have some very good points to make here both for consumers and developers.

Id really like to bring this to the attention of all of you again and see if we find a way to pitch this Feature request.

all the best to you and thanks for reading!

Hello, I recently upgraded from Quest 2 to Quest 3. While I appreciate the improved passthrough, I'm disappointed that there's no way to utilize the IR cameras for it since i already have an IR setup for outside use and a fun night vision project

I am just a consumer but if there's any way in which i can help, i would be happy to

I wasn't expecting the drop of this functionality. I've some ideas for an app that requires non-visible light due the nature of the activity and the Quest were a good choice. Please Meta, add this 🙏!
