Status: New Idea

Right now the Quest Pro controllers seem to enter into sleep mode much too quickly. When I am in VRChat for instance, if I do not move my hands within about ten to fifteen seconds the controllers enter sleep mode causing my avatars hands to drop to my sides. I then have to wiggle my hands around to get the controllers to wake back up again. This happens constantly when I'm not moving around that much or when I'm playing whilst seated. Seeing this happening is immersion breaking. It's also an issue when I am using one controller to scroll through a menu and the other controller goes to sleep causing the game to enter into a single controller mode which takes me out of the menu I was scrolling through and starts making my avatar move in some direction instead. I then have to wiggle the controller that fell asleep to get it to wake back up and then find where I was in the menu all over again. This is very disruptive to the flow.

So my idea is to add a setting in the Quest Pro settings to allow users to set how quickly their controllers fall asleep when not being moved from the default (what it is set to now) all the way up to around five minutes or so. That way, those who want to focus on battery life for their controllers and aren't bothered by the other issues I described above can leave it on default and those who are finding themselves increasingly frustrated by these issues and who are less worried about the battery life can change the setting to something more suitable for them.

I have this issue constantly too, i'm sure it makes battery life much better, but i don't generally play for hours at a time and have no issue manually accepting shorter battery life.
A slider to set different autosleep times would solve a bunch of issues!

Please make this a thing. It is so annoying that the controllers go into standby after like 10-15 seconds of barely any movement... It is not a VRChat bug, it is the controllers. Let us decide when they go into standby, just like you do on the headset and everything else! This is way too annoying and really makes the VR experience 100 times less enjoyable... Just a simple dropdown menu with 15 second, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 5 minutes, 15 minutes... You know? Very simple and really makes it much better. The battery you save is close to 0 if you instantly get them out of standby anyway, because you didn't want them to go into standby...

One thing I've noticed is that this only happens with pc vr

Nearly almost 3 months and Meta still has not added this as an option. Seriously come on Meta.

Agreed 100%

Please make this setting configurable, preferably with an option to automatically re-enable battery saving under X%

I strongly agree.
Implementing that feature would not be that difficult, would it?
Having the controller go to sleep after only a few seconds of not moving it is excessive and very stressful.

At the very least, I would like to hear Meta's view on the implementation of this feature.

I have the quest 3, but the same issue. Using the quest controller as tracker for motion compensation is practically impssible because tracking is stopped every time the controller goes to sleep.

Delaying the time before controller goes to sleep should be an option.

Completely agree. This seems like such a basic thing, quite surprising we can't already configure this.

Same thoughts. Alternatively, at least have it so that the controllers stay in their last known location before sleeping.

I am very angry about this, every times. Who suggested this idea? I am a developer too. I dont understand this function. How dear you dont know about user's experience.
