Hi

Having been following this thread....

(1) Re: V68/PTC69 missing Contrast Adaptive Brightness... - Page 11 - Meta Community Forums - 122980...

....regarding the CABB feature that was to be added to V68 of the firmware. It now seems that this function is being added to V69 firmware, from those whose headsets have been update have informed us.

As I have been wanting to try this out for some time it would be useful if a user could manually override whatever process is involved in pushing out updates, to install it to their own headset.

This would be similar to what Steam offer with their games updates....

Note within the downloads section a published update with a date as to when it will be pushed to your game. OR it is possible to manually update early if you wish to do so by simply commencing the download when you decide to.

If there are regional restrictions or limitations when rolling out the update I understand that. But if those who are interested in being an early adopter of a recognised update, not a beta tester, then they would be the ones most likely to manually wish to update and so be more typical to offer feedback.

That could offer invaluable insight to a newly released firmware, and possible late bug catching etc.

Thanks for your consideration.

Meta definitely needs to improve the way they push out updates. It's weird how they let you join the public testing channel, but still decide to withhold features.

I think so.

What I also see is that noted features being added to finished firmware releases are sometimes there for some and yet not for others. Some features, like sleep as an option for shutdown, is marked for V69 and yet I have that, just appeared in a small update, for V68.

If you are subbed to the PDC I would expect such randomness as features are tried and tested for release.

When a firmware hits release status then it should be widely available and complete for all.

Thanks
