'The new on demand passthrough mode is excellent! Just what sooo many people had hoped for. A few suggestions to make it even better:
- It seems that when you enter back into the VR experience from passthrough on demand the room is re-centred, this is not ideal during a bunch of games (beat saber, richies plank experience) especially if it is accidentally triggered when swapping the headset to another user. Ideally passthrough on demand wouldnât have any impact on the preset centre of the play space.
- a slider for adjusting the sensitivity of the double tap activation. I think the current setting is pretty good, but have read other comments suggesting this. Once again, if you were passing the headset between multiple users you wouldnât want to activate it.
Perhaps even just a low/medium/high setting wouldbe sufficient.
- I have a large play space and an even bigger room, passthrough mode is great, but having it turn off when you walk to far away seems strange. The screen just goes black. I donât know if there are technical limitations but would be great to have passthrough stay on until you return back the play space or double tap.
I love that you guys keep making this headset even better. Keep up the good work.
"but having it turn off when you walk to far away seems strange" I find this VERY frustrating! There is no technical reason that the pass through cameras cannot work indefinitely. I want to leave my headset on while I go grab a drink from the kitchen, I cannot do that as my headset blacks out between my play area and my kitchen...
I have raised this idea also https://oculus.uservoice.com/forums/921937-oculus-quest/suggestions/40128532-no-more-fade-to-black-o...
I loved the idea of this feature, but had to disable it again. Mid game play it would trigger this feature unintentionally when moving too much. A sensitivity slider, or the ability to assign this to a physical button would be a great improvement.
Thanks for posting my idea about the sensitivity! I often adjust the Quest on my face and, more often then not, I ended up accidentally turning this on in the process. I ended up just turning this feature off as it was more annoying than it was worth. I feel like it either needs a sensitivity adjustment option or be mapped to a button like long pressing the menu button or double tapping volume or power.
