Not main English, and No, I don't know if anyone else has posted since I am more irritated than calm (as such, WARNING, there are moments I am "mean" or "rude"):
Currently, the battery lasts less than 2 hours. Unless Thunderbolt 4 (? I think, don't have to test), you can't connect the VR for both secure connection (no WIFI) on top of charging the device. Without PC, yes, you can constantly charge the device, aka, nonstop... but why is the battery than needed? If you play big VR games, on clear settings (PC Oculus App -> change resolution so the games look real and NOT blurred), of course, it eats even more of the battery's remaining %. Oh and I'm so sorry devs that I actually want quality VR and not tick a check box that I play vr games, even if blurred (again, I am more irritated than calm, and the battery dying non-stop + need charging, is the main issues since I play more than 2 hours).
So here is the major issue: There is only 1 type C port. If there was 2, 1 for charging, and another one for video, this would make this VR perfect for PC VR. If I play some of the PC VR games, I need to choose: good quality connection via Cable but lose battery life since there is only 1 port. Or use WIFI, which has random issues, and drop in quality (since using the higher resolution = game won't work well = need to play blurred games), of course, the internet disconnects, but at least I can charge the device..... (so why is the battery needed??)
As such, here comes the biggest issue: The battery.
Non stop charging since no battery VS with battery
The bad part:
1. cable is something you need to be aware of, to not trip.... something that tons of people manage without issues as far as I can tell, especially other VR headsets that need cables. Oh, and I do hope people are not so closed-minded to not realise that if you use something silly like an isolation tape, to softly but securely "combine" the 2 cables, you will only need to worry about 1 cable and not 2. And that is just 1 idea out of hundreds of how you could ensure to keep safe and more.
2. You need a good cable and a long charging cable (copy-paste if you use another one for PC), so this might to expensive
The good part:
3. The Quest with a battery already exist, as such, anyone who wants a Quest with a battery has the option to get such model.
4. Less weight due to no battery
5. After years of using, you can still use it normally since the battery didn't exist in the 1st place, aka any model with a battery, after a few years, the battery will last most likely less than an hour (I don't have data so can't say for sure), meaning we will be force to keep them charge non stop, via cable anyhow.
6. If such a model is created, hopefully, Meta will do the best imaginable thing and add a way to Easily, user friendly, give the ability to change the charging port on the Quest since the only issue with charging via cables is that the ports might play up, if not faulty, due to high amount of connecting. This will ensure that anyone buying such Quest model, will have one that works for years without being one of those rare lucky ones or extremely careful who take extra steps to take care of everything. The idea of user-friendly is to ensure no one needs to open the quest, risking to destroy something.
7. Battery leak... Do I need to say anything more? Or is it clear that you won't even notice (since usually happens when the device was not used) until it's too late, and "too late" means the device can't be used ever again.
8. due to the battery extension accessories (or just power banks put in your pocket), you can still be "wireless", aka if on occasion you want to use this battery-less Quest, without cables that might be in your way, all you need is to connect a smaller battery to the charging port. something that is already used for the "with battery" version
9. better for the environment since no battery
10. Exactly because of non-stop power supply, there might even be a problem with power charging (aka non USB charger you plug in the wall), ensuring the VR get's enough juice to not have any issues to play very high-resolution or similar games. And of course, this is the idea with the second port: if you have a Gamaming PC for VR games, it means the PC will contribute to the Quest's processor power, giving a very high-quality experience. As such, a bonus 11.
11. Dear Quest, did you know, some people, created programs that, if using their program in a game where you can freely look around (moving via mouse)...well you can use the VR. Aka even non-VR games are played in VR (sure, no VR, but moving camera, the idea is that it's still more amazing VS normal monitor). Ideea, if the Meta adds such stuff by default for the Quest with 2 ports, I have no doubt more people will buy such a headset. Actually, even without Meta doing anything, they will pay to buy those programs, and buy the Quest with 2 ports, so they can play all those non-VR games, with High quality (port 1) and no battery issues (port 2).
For anyone replying, please remember, that this is a suggestion post, if you don't like it, please move on, you can buy anytime a battery one. So, regardless if this suggestion will become real or ignored, it won't affect you. What you don't like is related to risk due to cable or uncomfortable?? Sorry but why are you assuming people will not look up how-to guides to ensure safety and care, just like many already exist for other VR and similar devices with cable. Oh, but you still like sometimes using wireless??? Well, guess what!!! Just use the extra battery pack (or any power bank you just put in your pocket) and now you can still use "Wireless" this battery-free Quest version, as pointed out at #8 or just buy the "with battery" version that already exists. So again, please move on since cable safety will be one of the most important things users will be aware of if they buy such a version
