Remove Mandatory Facebook Login!

Remove Mandatory Facebook login in order to accept friend requests and use the Oculus app. I have never had Facebook nor do i want it. I just want to play vr. I don’t want to have to have facebook to enjoy my 500$ Virtual Reality Headset with my friends.

I think it was the dumbest Idea to imply that you now have to have a FB account when you invite or to talk to a friend

Deleted my Facebook account this year and got my Oculus Quest sometime after, (didn’t buy my Quest because I deleted my Facebook, sorry for weird phrasing but I digress) imagine my annoyance when I go to party chat my Dad and play something only to be met with a notification telling me I need to link a Facebook account to my Oculus account to speak to my Dad when I didn’t need to before!

I agree i dont use facebook and have no interest in it. this is becoming a dictatorship , next they will tell us we have to buy certain games

Facebook must be desparate to keep the brand afloat if they're resorting to mining the tiny niche user base of Oculus products! The idea that somehow the already Facebook-hosted user profiles we created as Oculus accounts are now worthless to us after 2-3 years is insulting. I don't want to give you my behavioral data to sell, I already paid for the headset and paid for the games on it. Be satisfied with that. Never mind that of course I know you're already harvesting what data you can from the existing accounts. How does my level of mobility influence my purchasing power? I'm sure you have data on that. Is there a correlation between my height and my tendency to click on ads? I bet your algorithm already knows and tries to target me based on that. It's a fact of life that you would be doing that from the moment I created the account for my rift 2 years ago, but now you're making it so goddamn brazen. Why now? Keeping making great products and strip out this absurd requirement! For another thing, my 11 year old nephews don't have Facebook accounts and likely never will. Children use these devices a lot. Get your greasy dead eyed mitts off us, Mark.

That thought passed my mind... yes. I don’t think I’m alone. Not here to defend myself but to politely request that Facebook not be forced on us.

Don’t make it so we have to sign into Facebook for social features. I wanna play vr with my friends, not make a social media account I’m not going to use. I paid for the headset so there shouldn’t be limitations like this.

I wanted untethered VR for the past 15 years. I was going to buy your device, until you came out with sharing data with your FB parent. With your drasticly fallible data protection I do not have faith in you security of my information, so I will wait until you competitors beat you out of the league. Also Beat Saber is drasticlly over rated.
