Remove Mandatory Facebook login in order to accept friend requests and use the Oculus app. I have never had Facebook nor do i want it. I just want to play vr. I don’t want to have to have facebook to enjoy my 500$ Virtual Reality Headset with my friends.

I know the Netflix app essentially was a pet project of John Carmack and it was really great on GearVR at the time.
Now it looks like a neglected child and need an upgrade to match the wonderful new hardware of the Quest 2.
Please talk to the concerned parties (Netflix?). And John, if you´re seeing this: Blow some magic coding dust its way. Please?
Wishlist by order of priority:
*Update the streams to HD-material - 480p doesn´t look good. (never really did, but now it looks horrendous)
*Update textures in the enviroment (gives us more enviroments?), Passthrough as background?
*Ability to watch together with a friend or two.
*Ability to download videos to the device.
*Give some love to Void Theatre and let us choose backdrops, color schemes or even passthrough + some more control on curvature of the screen.
*Maybe integrate it as an Oculus-TV-app?

Here's an idea: [ ... ] get the programming team to add a toggle in Settings to be able to turn OFF the mirror. Then sit back and watch all the 'THANK YOU's roll in to Meta...... I've not read of ANYONE who likes the mirror.

What a horrendous marketing move.
You're basically telling everyone who bought the Quest 2 to go f- themselves. Too bad if you're an early adopter.
In addition, most of us who bought the Q2 can still refund it and get a new one cheaper, and with a free game.

Rift CV1 owners are concerned at the recent decision to stop selling the Rift CV1 accessories only 6 months after the sale of the last headset. Of particular concern is the lack headset cable which is probably the most fragile component. The expectation that we should buy a whole new headset if this $50 part fails is a major concern.
Many circumstances can occur outside of warranty conditions like
* pets can chew this cable
* accidental twisting over time fatigues the cable
* accidental falls can pull the cable from the PC
All these circumstances are not Oculus' fault and should not be handled under warranty. However the end user do have the expectation that they can repair a commonly failing part for their headset.
Consumer rights in the USA are very weak and favour companies over consumers. However in the EU, Australia and New Zealand the laws state that spare parts should be available for a reasonable amount of time after the product is discontinued. 6 months is not very reasonable considering that most users have an expectation that PC components should last between 3-5 years.

A survey of 250 Oculus users seems to suggest that most Rift owners expect to get approximately 4-5 years from their headset

Many of us understand that this cable was possibly being made by a third party who has made the decision to no longer supply them to you. However you made the design decision to go with a proprietary cable so unfortunately the onus is on you to abide by consumer laws and will have to either make freely available design specifications and connector patents so a 3rd party can make them or source a new supplier for this cable so you can sell it yourself.
Your quality end user support compared to other VR headset vendors has earned you a great reputation in the VR community in recent years. This quality support has definitely helped accelerate the growth of your marketshare with as Oculus owners recommend your headset to family and friends based on how good your after market support is. Please don't tarnish this reputation and abandon the early adopters that have helped to grow your ecosystem. We want to remain Oculus customers but it becomes the standard that headsets (including the Rift-S) will be abandoned 6 months after the product is discontinued from sale many of us will have second thoughts about buying future Oculus products as well as using the Oculus store.

My understanding is that cloud save functionality is available, but most developers choose not to use it.
It should be part of the Oculus approval process for games to ensure data is not lost if the Quest unit requires a factory reset, breaks or is lost/stolen.
This is something that is seen as the norm for other âconsolesâ so should be the standard if aiming for VR to be mainstream.
Backing up with usb over developer mode is not a good enough solution for the majority as it requires manual backups.

I just saw John Carmack mention this in his OC6 talk. I mean, come on, if there's a chance you can up this thing to 90Hz, even if it's only for desktop mode, then you really should make this happen. Yeah, it's a hassle and cost on your side, but not one customer is going to complain about you making their VR experience the best it can be, especially when from their end there's no hassle involved in getting that.

So there's a third party app called ToxMod (which is passive and respects privacy) that uses machine learning to automatically clip and record offending content in public multiplayer VR lobbies and send it to developers. For example, developers can configure ToxMod to activate when a user utters a certain word or phrase (like a slur), clip it, then send an audio/voice recording to the developers (at which point, they can take action). ToxMod adds an agent to each lobby, as per my understanding, to accomplish this. I know Meta won't use third party apps like this but I think a similar system should be developed by Meta specifically for flagging children who use their parents' accounts and passing (for example) isChild = true along to developers via the API so developers can add the appropriate filters to their games and improve their communities. It wouldn't even need to be something ubiquitous, it could passively audit users in multiplayer games over a period of time and flag accounts as it goes (and there could be an appeals process where adults could unflag their own account after they create a separate junior account for their kid). What this could mean for content: - Developers could add a checkbox giving the ability for adults or young people who aren't flagged as children to opt out of playing with people under the age of 13 - Developers could bar children from certain modes or limit children to only playing with other children - Developers could bar children from multiplayer altogether On a technical level, I don't think it should be that difficult to tell when a kid is using an adult's Meta account. Factors like height, pitch, type of language used, and so on should be pretty easy for an algorithm to pick up on. Perhaps human moderators could be part of the decision to flag the account as well with the algorithm just sending anonymized data to the moderation team much like ToxMod does. Why, you ask? Because children ruin many social VR and multiplayer VR experiences. See this post. It's gotten so bad that many mature users avoid crossplay games or give up on certain communities due to the influx of children. There are certain games, like Onward, that most children simply aren't mature enough to play (steep learning curve, slow paced, punishing) so instead of playing the game as intended, children make their own fun which means disrupting anyone who does want to play the game as intended. That's without getting into how loud children are, how they dominate voice comms, etc. The fact is that the majority of adults would rather not hang out with children in their free time and unless something is done about this, then I think VR is going to get a reputation as being something which is for kids. Like Fortnite or Roblox. If VR is ever to go mainstream, it needs to give people the ability to interact with others who are similar in age and maturity. There's also the danger this poses to children that comes from interacting with adult strangers in games like VRChat. I think the proposed system or a more complex system that adds more flags to an account would do wonders for the quality of VR communities.

Thought I'd add this to the ideas page. Just a simple thing to make the profile a little more interesting and worthwhile. If we could show how old our Oculus / Meta accounts are by using things like badges (Just like steam does) Same for time spent in VR either in general or by game?

I get some people may like having the Avatar Arms and hands, I for one do not. It is jarring and makes me uncomfortable, I'm in a rush to boot up any game so I can get rid of it or just opt to not use my headset otherwise. A simple toggle in the settings allowing those who want to keep the bleeding mirror and the avatar or allow those of us who want to disable one or the other would be a great move to satisfy both parties, By all means have them on by default but let those of us who want to turn them off, actually turn them off.

I hope Meta adds a trade in feature where you can trade your headset in thru mail to get credit for newer models, sorta like phones. Edit, This would be great for everyone not just for people with Quest 2’s. If someone had a Quest 1, they could get some store credit which acts like a discount for a Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Etc.
