Meanwhile, on my end, I am in talks with the Heinz history center in Pittsburgh to 3D scan two 1950s rooms from their exhibit Pittsburgh Innovation--see below. I've played around scanning objects with my new Structure Sensor and will start practicing with room capture in a few days. If not, my backup is the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus which has an original pre-fab Lustron house in situ in the museum. It is very Truman Show...
I've met with and am having two actresses do video selfies of Rae's farewell to Shizuku, the robot girl. It is the video that gets triggered to run in her communication from Earth ceases. It's likely I will have to break this up as the emotional effect is a little overwhelming. That will be edited and added to our application.
I'm planning to shoot the actress (the selfie video is also an audition--of course, I am paying both--I really believe in paying artists) I choose in 360 video. Sound will be key as I want user to be visually and aurally in position of the robot girl (text to speech program) in these videos. I see these as alternate spaces that users will enter from the main CGI environment probably fade in..Has anyone seen this done??
All in all, steep learning curves ahead. But, progress.
Good news: I got a request to exhibit my first online narrative Reconstructing Mayakovsky (2008) in Bremen, Germany in November. Also, good news from Sundance about another VR piece in early development based on my second work Queerskins. But, still need way more $$$ to actually begin production.
