Done with the launch pad submission finally!!! Woot Woot!
Lots of last minute drills. The video capture using Oculus utilities in Gear VR on S6 generates a 1024x1024 video which works well for the most part. The problem is that the Oculus store requires 1280x720 video as minimum. My engineer went to bed and did not send me the latest Unity project updates so I could not do a video capture on PC.
Welcome to last minute trade offs. I submitted a very short low quality video as an extra file on the Launch Pad application and did not submit a video on the Oculus store.
I also discovered a last minute bug that caused the video and image capture to be slightly tilted - this was not a problem before so must be an update we have done recently.
Adding to the trouble, I've been in Jordan for the past 9 days with a not-so-reliable internet connection. Just so that Murphy's law manifests itself perfectly, we also lost electricity for a few hours today 🙂 Its now 6:30am Amman time and my wife and I pulled an all nighter getting the project wrapped up. She helped me with the website and some designs.
Overall, this has been a great experience and we got some good feedback from many people so we know what we need to do to march forward. Getting the scholarship from Facebook will be great but regardless of getting it, we are going ahead!!!
Cross posted on the Facebook group as well. I'm planning to write a more detailed postmortem once I get back to the US
Not to mention that we pivoted completely from a presentation experience in VR to an Eye exam app to deliver a real minimum viable product. Had to use the word pivot - right 😉
