I want to be fully transparent about how my build for Underdog came about for this scholarship opportunity. I am 100% the idea man behind it, but I should also tell you that I outsourced the Unity work to someone else. I’ve never been one to take credit for things that others did, I have no intention to start now. And when I read the scholarship rules, my interpretation was that it said as long as you have 100% of the ownership rights involved with the project, there was no conflict of interest as to how it came into fruition. And I do have 100% of the ownership rights. That’s how I interpreted it anyway. And I didn’t outsource it so it could be fancy (it’s not) and so I wouldn’t have to do any work (I did), but because when my CTO and I split in mid-July, I didn’t want to use anything he had made (at my instruction), but I also wanted to submit for this particular opportunity. July to late August wasn’t enough time for me to learn what I needed to get something up and running. I didn’t feel so anyway.

But what I have realized and learned is that within the next 6-8 months, through doing the Unity courseware and becoming my own developer, I will absolutely have the skills to be able to bring about any idea I have in my head about what I want to do in VR. VR ninja, VR samurai, whatever you want to call it. This experience has absolutely shifted to a new life path for me. It allows me to be creative, and is teaching me to submit to the learning process of becoming more technical in my approach and understanding. It’s good balance. I look forward to the challenge. Whatever happens with the scholarship, this has been a really incredible experience. I’ve learned a great deal. And I’m very much looking forward to be able to create fantasies and dreams, and opening doors for young people with different abilities (some people may say ‘disabilities) and young people of color who may not have had access to the technology and know how. And also people who are living in rural communities who just want a chance at a better life. We all do. I know I’m going to create pathways for people to be able to do that. I know that. So, like I said, whatever happens, my own path has already been set. 3.2.1. Launch!
