This past week has been ultra productive for me! I'm about 90% through my Game Design Document (which I've adapted for my app, since Lincoln is more "gamification" than gaming.) I've also done some environment drawings, color scripts, as well as some asset design!
You can see here where I've started blocking in midtones and making color decisions for the environment. Since Lincoln's speech was given in the afternoon, I want the enviro to have a "golden hour" feel to it, with lots of warm, dramatic tones. These will continue to be worked over during Week 5.
I also did some drawings of what the "stage" could look like - this was tough because there are no photos of the Gettysburg Address, so I had to get creative. Based on the research I've done so far about the time period and location, I drew a couple of simple, wooden structures that could have been easily built before the dedication ceremony, and deconstructed afterwards.
I've also started blocking in the colors for the storyboards, and will have those wrapped up to share for next week's updates. I also tweaked some of the facial expressions I originally came up with during the thumbnailing process.
Next week I plan to share the finalized color scripts, progress on my Lincoln model in Blender, and the gray box work I have done for the scene. I should also have my GDD done 100% to share and hopefully get some feedback on!
I am looking for some royalty-free resources for sound clips to start importing into my gray box in Unity - does anyone have any recommendations?
Wow! I love seeing your process! I've done plenty of storyboards for user experience, but not for "film" and storytelling. I find it's really more emotionally sound and communicative. I can't wait to see your progress next week - keep up the great work and thanks for the feedback
