Shayna Moon- Launch Pad "TBA"

Hello everyone, my name is Shayna Moon, and I'm a producer currently operating out of Austin, Texas! I have been in the games industry for about 3 years now.

My first step is to understand VR development a little better, so to that end I've enrolled in a Udemy course titled Make VR Games in Unity with C#. So far, it's been going really well. I finished up section 2 of the course yesterday.

Goals for next week
  • Begin drafting a game design document for my app
  • Complete section 3 of the VR C# course
That's it! I'm so excited to see what everyone's working on.

Would love to hear your review of the course when you're finished.

Udemy is the best. I might be a little addicted to taking classes on Udemy. I can't wait to see how you do with the course. I was just looking into buying that course earlier.

Shayna! I love your video! That was so spot on

I've had that course wishlisted for sometime, am currently trying to get thru the blender course as CG will (hopefully) be key for me. So that's great feedback.

I love that you're using the Disney Method! I was just looking at my new copy of The Art of Zootopia today and was reminded of that method. So cool you are using it! I look forward to more videos, and maybe could try doing it myself   – since I've never done that, do you mind my asking what software you used to record your screen and audio so nicely?

Thanks for your inspiring post!

I'm using the NVIDIA GeForce experience to record my PC. I believe you need an NVIDIA graphics card! But there are lots of great screen capture programs you can find if you don't have that kind of GPU, I recommend FRAPS.

On the update front, I've been chugging along with my class, you can find my latest update video here.

In regards to my Oculus submission, I've narrowed down on what I'm going to do, my music visualizer, and hopefully will have a demo to show in the next two weeks.

Thanks for the tip Shayna! By the way, I had a chance to listen in on your hangout/month-i-versary video and heard you mention Extra Credits – THANK YOU SO MUCH! I had so much fun watching those and have even mentioned you and them in my weekly blog update! I hope that’s ok. You can check it out here:

Also watched your Disney Method, it's fun to see the similarities in people’s product development methods. I have had reservations about applying my product dev methodologies to gaming, and have been trying to be completely open to the process, but am feeling the need to get more structured. I think the approach I'm leaning most towards is the MVP approach as mentioned in Extra Credits:

Making Your First Game: Minimum Viable Product – Scope Small, Start Right

I think at this stage it’s challenging to be able to maintain the bird’s eye view of the long-term goal and effective with each component piece. So thankful to be able to have veterans like yourself around to be able to talk to 🙂
