Week 9: Moki’s Adventures

Having a blast this week learning even more about materials, shaders and scale in Unity.

The beginning of the week was focused on reworking the branding as I want the look and feel to carry through the design of the demo.

I did some demos via Google’s developer’s corner.

I created a slew of storyboards, sketches and annotations based on what I was finding in my experiments in Unity.

And added a couple more moodboards to my collection for reference when going back to Blender for a second attempt on Moki.

Been playing with Google’s Open sourced Design Lab Unity package  and learning so much more about how to optimize my asset and terrain for Unity manipulation and Mobile performance. I expect lighting and atmospheric settings to be part of my learning curve this coming week, along with everything I need to do to get some kind of gameplay in motion.

All in all, it’s been another great week. I am absolutely loving Blender and getting a tighter narrative together for purposes of the Demo. Biggest challenge for me at the moment is definitely Unity. Hoping to get over that awkward phase soon.

So that’s the more visual account of the week for now, got to get back to work! Hope it was fun seeing the process with your own eyes! I'll be off to Sweden next Monday, so look out for an update on Sunday or Tuesday :smile:
