SpaceVR June 19 - 25 Space Robots

Hello World,

Week #1 was a blast. We had software bugs and hardware sparks (literally), but in the end our humanoid robot  (called Human) and VR Unity build has started to take shape. I love space and I believe that everyone else does too, so join me on this weekly blog post that will hopefully inspire people to look up at night.

SpaceVR was started to transform productivity and enhance our perspective on our place in the universe using Virtual Reality (VR). Our first product Overview 1, is a 3U CubeSat that transmits 360 degree video from outside of the International Space Station to clients on Earth enabling everyone to experience the “Overview Effect” - a cognitive shift in awareness, reported by some astronauts and cosmonauts during spaceflight, often while viewing the earth from orbit or from the lunar surface. It explains the life changing experience gained from seeing first-hand the reality of the Earth in space. SpaceVR's second product Human (and our Oculus Launch Pad idea) will enable space settlement via increased human capability and job productivity on Earth.

It was also a great week for sharing the Launch Pad love (as a space company you have no idea how much we love the "Launch Pad" name!) SpaceVR gave its extra Oculus Rift to a fellow Launch Padder and chatted with another Launch Padder building Natural Language software perfect for asking Human (our robot) to describe its system status and error status.

SpaceX also launched two separate rockets this week and landed both first stages on a boat in the middle of two different oceans (see the BulgariaSat-1 landing below). SpaceVR's robots will most likely be flying to space on a SpaceX rocket so the cheaper SpaceX makes space travel the more robots we can send to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Week #2 should see the arm moving using the GearVR Controller and/or HTC VIVE Controller at the 2017 New Space conference (https://newspace.spacefrontier.org) in San Francisco, CA. Swing by if you want to say hello 🙂 If not you can also see the arm serving ice cream July 15th in Dolores Park in San Francisco, CA. Yummy!!!
