This week I accomplished my goal of getting an interview with the LA sheriff. They were able to confirm a date for next week and they're even willing to let me shoot at the sheriff's office! I'm kind of excited about it. I've been working on a good list of thought provoking questions. My aim is to have him be the voice of the system that many of the homeless people have denounced so I can bring more than one perspective to the table.
Randomly enough, from my original interview last week, some more people on skid row want to do interviews. After it was revealed that my original interviewee had a cell phone (thy apparently give cell phones to the homeless for very heap) we've been able to communicate and coordinate better. He reached out to let me know that after seeing him being interviewed, others want to get involved in the project and really tell their story.
Aside from the interviews I started working on a Unity menu in which to display the content. Not sure how I want to do it but have a basic menu in place for the 360 Video app.
I was also able to go through the footage and look at the original interviews. They were crap. I pretty much have to re-shoot them all and use lav mics to capture better audio. Most of the footage has people from skid row yelling and doing other random and loud things. But it's not much of an issue as I think everyone has really been enjoying telling their story, as I'm sure they don't get too many open ears.
I had planned to do much more this week but the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation asked me to do a 360 Video for Anime Expo and that ate up like half the week...but was a total blast! I highly recommend it even if you know nothing about Japanese animation. There was great energy there, also saw a fellow Launchpadder.
Next week will probably be another smashing success.
Good luck to everyone in their endeavors and I wish you abundance!!
