This has been a pretty productive week. Met up with some Launchpadders at Upload LA and learned a few new tricks in Unity. Definitely might have to add them to my project. Their projects seemed so complete it was a little intimidating.
I was able to finally get my interview with Kenny Q. He gave an excellent interview about how he used to be homeless and now owns a restaurant and goes down to Skid row and gives out food. His restaurant was pretty cool, and he actually seemed pretty excited to tell his story.
I was able to nail down a Thursday interview at the Midnight Mission and I'm hoping I can get some of the currently homeless to speak a little. I've been going down to Skid row to give out waters about twice a week but people are still very hesitant to be caught on film. A guy told me that some people are hiding, some people are running from their families and other...the law. Not only that, but there were so many people standing around doing drugs I just didn't think it was appropriate. Getting actual footage of the Skid row population has really been the hardest part of this project. The whole community hates cameras, and it's understandable. A few also said they didn't want people to record them and make any type of financial gain at their expense....which I also understood.
Hoping that the Midnight Mission will yield more fruits than expected!
Good luck to everyone in your endeavors and I wish you abundance!!
