Week 7: Animation

Lots of good stuff has been happening with our other projects, but I still carve out some time to keep this pressing forward each week. The most useful improvement is having access to MotionBuilder again, so I am finally able to edit and work with the mocap data from a few months ago. The "story" of the scene doesn't really start until just after this clip, but the animation is also much rougher there, so I'll show that when it's looking better. It was super easy to attach lights and particles to the Goblin's hand, making a glow effect I am happy with, but I will need to use sequencer at some point to get them turning on and off at key points.

There is still tons of clean-up needed to get my cloth plans working (may abandon them) and my blendshapes have stopped working entirely, so there is a painful rebuild and re-export/import that will need to be done before shipping a final version. For now I am simply enjoying the chance to animate in Mobu again, and am pleased with how the lighting and materials are looking. It's all way too heavy for Gear, but I've decided to not worry about that yet, and focus on a high quality experience for Rift.
