Hello everyone!

Marlon here (from Los Angeles) – Your ideas and work are so inspiring and I'm excited to connect with more of you as the program goes on.
I've spent the last few weeks talking to users both seasoned in VR and those that have never tried it to better understand how to bridge casual and active audiences, a topic we're actively discussing to better reach a wide audience. There are a few ideas we're finalizing on and eager to hear any feedback or interest in collaborating! A little bit about me, I've been a 360º VR producer at BuzzFeed and work independently on VR projects as well. Our current team is comprised of producers from BuzzFeed and friends from hackathons. Here's a bit of where we're at with ideation and planning!

Ideas:

Globo - Experience music of the world and learn to play instruments

  • Take audiences to neighborhoods all over the world
  • Experience immersive 360º performances of music from around the world
  • Using Oculus Go, learn to play instruments in a follow the pattern game style
Background: I studied ethnomusicology and have done VR projects for Redbull and BuzzFeed featuring folk musicians. Would love to help people get to know the rhythms of the world through VR.

VR Loteria - Play loteria in VR with friends and learn about Latin Culture

  • Loteria is a board game popular in latin america
  • Learn about latin american culture through 360º and 180º video
Background: Creating a relatable and exploratory space for people to play a fun board game that brings humor, cross cultural issues, and fun.

Business Model Design VR

  • Learn to design business models in this fun and interactive game
  • Watch 180º / 360º videos that exemplify the entrepreneur / social impact journey
  • Includes nonprofit and arts related models
  • Multi-cultural perspectives
Background: Helping people visualize and consider different ways of starting a business and/or creating social/environmental impact. This is based from a series of games I've played offline in workshop settings.

Micro-Story VR

  • Short form style narrative journeys
  • Sims style art direction
  • themed stories based on time of your life

If any of these sound interesting to you, please feel free to reach out!
