Here we go! I'm taking a few minutes to reflect on my experience throughout the launchpad program. I started with a strong desire to innovate and with an idea of what I wanted to accomplish. I am leaving with a crystal-clear vision of where this project will go, the beginnings of an excellent a team to execute it, a working prototype for the Oculus GO and the Oculus Rift, and long list of people/organizations that want to pilot the project in the spring. The process has time and again proven how important it is to be constantly iterating on my work based on the feedback I've received from advisors, potential users/customers, and people who have never even experienced VR.
The wins I'm most proud of:
I want to take a minute thank everyone at Oculus for organizing this incredible opportunity and dedicating your time and resources to support creators like me. I also am incredibly grateful and inspired by the entire launchpad community and would not be where I am today it wasn't for the friendships and connections I have made along the way. The wins I'm most proud of:
- Previously, I thought that we were not going to be able to get the live-record function working on the OculusGo, however we found a way around it and will now be submitting our prototype on both devices!
- Inventing and submitting patents for a new immersive collaboration platform that will impact every stage of the creation process
- Putting myself out there to ask for feedback and meetings with prospective users, clients, and investors to take this to the next level
- Taking a huge leap of faith that I was capable manifesting my vision into a reality and bringing on the right team members to help me do it
- The brand and company vision that I have developed
- Taking a risk with what I am submitting to OLP 2018. Almost everyone is submitting games, narrative experiences, or 360 videos but I haven't seen anyone submit a platform or developer tool. I know that OLP is a wonderful program to spotlight emerging creators and content for the Oculus store and while MANIFEST could have major role to play in the Oculus store, it has a bigger role to play in the overall VR ecosystem. I am very hopeful that this will be enough to receive funding from Oculus. I am raising a round anyway, but would be thrilled to work strategically with Oculus to take this project to the finish line - and I hope that will be through Oculus Launchpad.
