Today I got my Gear, mostly a smooth experience, but while I test I will give some feedback:
- the first account selection should have a back button for noobs like me that do not yet know the Note4 well enough to notice the back button on the device itself. I tried to create a new account, but I already am registered here ... and then was kinda stuck until I figured out how to get back.
- did the tutorial, but skipped the gamepad part. now I tried a second time and and have to redo all former steps. at the point where I hold back to access the main menu again the second time I get weird texts:
d/view/MotionEvent$PointerProperties
and the tool tips are not shown or they are like: res/raw/header_signal_3.png
- managed to crash the whole application by using the brightness slider in the main menu (was looking for a way to use the gamepad without reading any manuals) resulted in disabled headtracking and the image was shown permanently ... it took a short moment after removing the Note before it jumped back into the menu Ending all running apps and inserting the Note into Gear did not start up the Gear software again! Powering off the device and restarting solved the issue.
I'll update as I go as I managed to lose the 1st version already 😉
The back button thing is standard on Android, and any Android user should be familiar with that (basically all apps use it).
In terms of the bugs and crashing, can you list specific repro steps for me. I.e. what app did you open specifically, how did you open it (through 2D Oculus App, though the 3D app), how did you change the settings, etc. After I get this, I will try to repro here and escalate if I can see it happening.
I can try, but I have hardly done anything today since I managed to get two different cold viruses at the same time and the lenses fog up in no time for me. And I can not really recall anything beyond what I wrote. By now I have installed all apps/games/experiences ... but if I find a way to reproduce it I will let you know.
