I'm noticing that any videos I play on GearVR, in both Oculus Video and our Unity builds, contain terrible banding in dark areas as the image graduates towards blacks. Tried many different headsets, across S7 and S8.
I've done a bit of research and this seems to be a common issue, correct me if I'm wrong but this appears to be due to a lack of dithering in GearVR. Is there a way to work around this? It currently means any dark video looks terrible in GearVR, which is very creatively restricting.
Thanks @imperativity I noticed the latest dark video I played back in Oculus Video seemed to have minimised this problem, and a video we put into a Unity app using the Unity Video Player had also almost completely removed the issue... is it possible this issue has been addressed recently, or are we going crazy?
