So I thought I'd try the video apps on Go , namely Amaze, Samsung Video VR, etc.
All of them seem to have a common effect on me that as soon as a character got fairly close to camera (ie talk to you) it was very hard for me to focus on them.
Then I would open the menu which seems to switch the video to mono while menu open and it is much more comfortable.
Are other people experiencing this? Is there any configuration I need to change , as its common over multiple video apps. Or am I just unfortunate to be experiencing this?
It could be that your eyes are spaced outside of the GO's "general population IPD" sweet spot, when something comes close to your face in stereo your eyes have to converge unnaturally on a plane that is super close to your eyes. (try holding your finger close to the middle of your face, almost touching your nose and try focus on it, it will make your eyes feel funny and you won't be able to hold that focus for long without it being uncomfortable)
In stereoscopic 3D, depending on your IPD this effect can greatly be increased or decreased.
Core i7-7700k @ 4.9 Ghz | 32 GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance @ 3000Mhz | 2x 1TB Samsung Evo | 2x 4GB WD Black ASUS MAXIMUS IX HERO | MSI AERO GTX 1080 OC @ 2000Mhz | Corsair Carbide Series 400C White (RGB FTW!)
This is normal with 3D video, especially with 360 degree 3D video. The problem is that the distance between the cameras is fixed, and may be unnatural depending on the content, or how close an object is from the camera. You won't notice this with 2D 360 video, as this will basically project onto a sphere far enough away to be comfortable.
Yeah..just wondering if other people are also experiencing it in those apps "Amaze" seemed to be particularly bad. They have a lot of story videos that have characters speaking to camera. but ones they get close it falls apart (for me anyway)
If not then yeah, maybe my eye dimensions are slightly different
or
If so..then its probably the camera setup they used.
Actually a good test I will try is opening the same on Rift, since that has the adjustment available.
