Am I the only person to experience this?

I've had the Oculus Quest for 2 weeks now and am noticing that the overall visual quality from the HMD and lenses seems to have deteriorated. When I put the headset on and booted for the first time the Oculus logo on the black background was clear, sharp and I do not recall any god rays. Now over time whenever I look at this same boot process the logo has a noticeable blur to it's edges, god rays are distractingly present and I can make out the foveated lense lines on my peripherals. These issues extend to pretty much every aspect of using the quest (some to a lesser degree than others, but still distracting).

Before I get asked the cleaning question... Yes, I have been cleaning the lenses with a dry optical microfiber cloth. Although I have a slight suspicion that this method is simply leaving a fine layer of grease evenly smeared over the lenses which could contribute to the issues I am having.

My main gripe here though is that there is less visual clarity and more... Fuzziness for lack of a better word than what I was seeing 2 weeks ago. Has anyone else experienced this?

Do you wear glasses/have poor vision irl? Sounds exactly like what it looks like to me without the corrective lenses.

That it was good to start and got worse is different tho, it would have been worse from the start.

The lens cleaning has me slightly concerned, I think I've cleaned my lenses of grease only once since buying it, the rest of the time I've just used a lens brush to remove dust. I've just avoided touching them with anything unless absolutely necessary. How often to you clean?

Are there any atmospheric contributors? we've had a member in dry sandy region having problems with the harder silica type dust being rubbed over lenses. The plastic/coatings used now seem to have toughened up a lot since the DK days, but still a possibility.

I have a habit of lifting my headset and placing it on my forehead, that results in my skin grease smearing the lenses. So I also clean them regularly but have not scratched or damaged the lenses, I am really cautious of this.  I have a few God rays too - I noticed them immediately I first placed the headset on, I originally had to side-load a settings app to reduce the brightness and that in turn reduced the God rays.

FWIW as the head strap wears in God rays and blur seem to be more pronounced as the headset is not fitted in the optimal position, requiring a tighter fit which then results in more face ache.

I only play for an hour at a time, so never bothered to look for a solution.

I do not wear glasses and my vision is okay, not perfect, but does the job. Like you said though my issue here has gotten worse over time. So unless the quest has been gradually destroying my vision since I got it... I don't know.

I usually have to give them a quick clean after each session. My head is on the smaller side and my face shape/structure can sometimes cause the upper inside edge of the lenses to lightly touch my lower brow/nose bridge. This normally leaves a little residue after an hour or so of playing. As for atmospheric contributors I live in the UK, nothing really comes to mind that could cause a problem.

I noticed the same problem with my headsets too.
I always use a microfiber cloth when cleaning and have noticed the god ray problem is getting worse. The right eye is worse than the left eye. I am suspecting there are some internal material inside the lens to get vapored and then condensed inside the lens and cause the god ray problem to get worse over time. Just a theory though.

Same for me. I think it is the cleaning that does this.

I noticed it out of the box.  If you use a good cleaning cloth you will be ok.  Using crap might well cause problems.
