I bought this as an impulse buy after my friend told me how awesome it was. I already got the desktop app and streamed some VR from Steam. I already got the boxing game, Star wars and Walking Dead.
im still trying to get used to the strap. Especially changing it when my kids want to play it. Is there a better strap option? What’s the best way to clean smudged from the lenses? Sometimes I can still see the lens circles, like sunlight rims, when I’m looking at certain menus and what not. (The same look as the lens themselves when you just.. look at them before putting them on.) I still can’t figure out if 1,2 or 3 works the best so there is that.
In general I’m just looking for some tips on how to keep the lenses from being greasy and smudged. And other tips and must do tricks I should get to doing.
also when I first watched some of the vr 360 videos I had that feeling of being there. That lasts usually 30-60 seconds into some of these skydiving/roller coaster videos. Do you just get used to it after awhile?
and last but least what are the top 5 or so games right now I can run on the oculus using steam vr and the oculus store itself. I also have that side loading thing but I’ve never used any programs on there.
RPGs/Shooters/Action games are some of my go tos. Sadly I missed out on getting that Asgard game for free 😞
You can use an in between IPD setting...says if your IPD is 66, you can set your lens position in between 2-3. For cleaning the lens, use HIGH QUALITY micro fiber cloth...those use for camera lenses. Cotton q tips would do. Don't use anything else. Avoid touching the lens. The lens is just plastic and can be easily scratched. However, the scratch can be buffed out. Avoiding running to many apps supporting your Quest 2 because some setting may interfere with others. For wired and tethered, I would use the USB 3 cable and use the Link Debug tool to set the bit rate to 500. You will see the clarity difference over using Virtual Desktop and Side Quest setting....because they max out the bit rate around 150. Side Quest and Virtual Desktop are good for wifi connection when high image quality isn't an issue. One more thing, the Render resolution you set on Link software can affect your frame rates, based on your game resolution. Try to match the resolution setting. From my experience, If the Link resolution is higher than the game resolution, you will get downscaling and it will lower your frame rate. If the Link resolution is lower than the game resolution, is upscaling. Your frame rate will increase but your image quality would suffer. Avoid launching games from SteamVR if possible. Any VR capable games should appear on your Link's Library. Try out Lone Echo...a must have for VR...
I'm a newbie myself, but would already say to take it slow! I've used titles like Elite Dangerous and Robo Recall previously without many issues, but hang fire and get your VR legs properly before heading into titles such as Onward, or Echo VR, where there's a lot of "non-natural movement" (movement using the sticks etc. while you are stationary)
