I think it's a disservice to the Community that Oculus hasn't made the ability to change one's won profile photo possible on both the Quest and the Go.
I'm fully aware of the workarounds by downloading Rift software or via Samsung Gear VR. I don't have a PC and I I no longer use a Samsung phone. Why should updating your photo not be an option. Hell... my FREE Period Tracker App lets me do it! And I give Oculus money!
WTF Oculus? "CHANGE PROFILE PHOTO" a fundamental feature on just about every account based platform I use.
Why won't YOU allow me to better customize my social profile and update my photo? Maybe I didn't choose well, never realize it would be PERMANENT? My current icon does not allow my posse to locate me with ease, and I'd like them to. LET ME CHANGE MY PROFILE PIC, OCULUS! This oversight has impacted my social experience on not one but two headsets, Yo. And I don't like it.
If you're reading this, Oculus, let me tell you something else while you're listening. I think your social capabilities on Quest are catastrophically lacking compared to GO.
My GO headset gives me my own frickin' apartment. To decorate. With my very own artwork on its walls. I can invite hommies over. Play games in my dope ass game room with an outdoor view that I have chosen. Listen to music or watch videos in my handsome living room. Yo-- we can even have a VR experience together with Hulu's outstanding Oculus Go app. In Quest, however, multiplayer games and experiences are expensive, limited in number and ability to be live, and are not appropriate for everyone. Do you not recognize that during the pandemic, your community members might appreciate sharing a calm but interactive virtual space with others simply so they can visit without having to blow the heads off of zombies in the wild west? Because it's crossed MY mind. So let's get crackin', Oculus, right? Right.
Pleasure doing business with you. Good day. LL in San Francisco
@wuzp is correct, you can now edit your profile pic in the Oculus phone app. It's not obvious, but if you open the app on your phone, and tap your profile pic (where it says "Welcome, <name>" at the top of the Home screen, it takes you to the screen shown above. Clicking the Edit icon lets you choose a pre-existing avatar pic, or open your photos on your device to choose any picture you'd like to use.
