Elite Strap with Battery and Quest 2 Link Cable issues

Battery weirdness
So my Elite Strap with Battery showed up today and quickly got it set up and turned it on. I hadn't charged the battery or connected a cable however I noticed a weird quirk where it appeared that my headset batt was depleting and the strap battery was increasing. I watched the headset go from 100% to 96% and my strap battery go from 14% to 16%. Shouldn't the strap battery charge the headset, not the other way around?  I wrote it off as a weird glitch and plugged the strap into the charger and left it to charge while off.

Quest 2 Link Cable
A moment ago I picked the headset up to plug it into the pc to play some pcvr games. When I plugged the link cable into the port on the strap battery my PC doesn't see the headset. Plugging the link cable directly into the headset works as intended. Has anyone else had this happen? Is the elite strap with batter not supposed to be used with Quest Link? Not even SideQuest can see it when attached to the battery port.

From what I understand, the port on the strap is for charging the battery in the strap only.  You have to use the port on the headset to use Oculus Link and to charge its internal battery directly.

That's a little unfortunate, but that does seem to be the case. It's a shame there isn't a passthrough for Oculus Link as the elite battery is effectively useless for PCVR. Especially since there doesn't seem to be enough power pulled to fully charge the headset while using the Oculus Link by itself.

you'll see that the Q2 only start using external power when it's internal battery go under 80%.

What seem strange is the fact that the strap battery charge from the Q2 itself. I would have expected it would be one way only.
And yes it was mentionned that link function don't work trough the strap battery.

A dead battery cannot charge a full battery. It doesn't work that way. Your strap battery needs to be fully charged to supply power to the headset. At least have "more" charge than the headset. It is odd that the strap battery seemed to charge though. It should be a one way thing. If this is true... I should be able to charge my phone off of the quest 2 ::smile: I might try this, lol.

After several charges I haven't been able to repro the issue. It was likely something with the initial charge of the strap, and how it read the battery life at the time. So far I am enjoying the battery strap, even with the Oculus Link limitation. Thankfully there's Virtual Desktop. Hopefully we'll see an official wireless link update in the future. I really don't want to ever go back to wires.

Its best when playing standalone, since link will maintain the battery level anyway..., having a power bank is good when playing via virtual desktop, i don't think there is any need to keep your quest charged whilst in PCVR because it should maintain, or degrade slowly.
