Gallery ambient noise while watching a movie.

Is there a way to turn off the ambient night sounds while watching through gallery ?

If not luckily there is skybox without it.

Can't find the option anywhere, so I assume you cant turn it off ?

Why is this even enabled in the first place, who needs ambient noises while watching videos...

And nevermind skybox, its not a good replacement because there are artifacts around the side of the screen that look like aliasing.

I've had great success with Skybox, but only for VR180 content, I haven't tried 2D stuffs yet. Is the content streaming from your pc, or in the Quest's internal storage? If it's on your pc, maybe try Bigscreen.

Yea vr works fine, I just tried bigscreen beta its the same around the edges and the quality is not good enough compared to the gallery.

Maybe it's either the clips or the codec then.

You could try sideloading VLC and see if that plays them any better. Or even Kodi for that matter.

Will try that eventually... but for now I did my part :  https://oculus.uservoice.com/forums/921937-oculus-quest/suggestions/38155294-options-to-disable-ambi... vote if you want to watch movies in the dark without background noise.

VLC and Kodi would play through the SideQuest menu under Unknown Sources, and I'm pretty sure there's no background noise when in Unknown Sources. Not that I remember anyway. It took me a bit to realize the bird noises were even coming from the headset...I usually keep my window open, and there's tons of birds in my area. 😛

I'd like to see the ambient soundtrack removed as you say, as well as the ability to watch movies in the dark...something Carmack said they were already working on. It would be 3DoF, like the Go, as the cameras need to see to track the headset. That's all you need for videos though. Although it's an added expense, people have found they can run the Quest using a infrared spotlight in the dark, even with full tracking. I figured the infrared would've messed with the tracking of the infrared LEDs in the controllers, but I guess I was wrong. 😛 But Carmack did say they were working on it, so I guess we just have to wait.

I'd also like to see the ability to have the controllers go to sleep when you're watching a movie. They wind up sitting beside you in vr, even though I leave my left controller on the kitchen counter behind me. It still shows as right beside me. I have to physically remove the battery to get it to disappear. It's bad enough I need to position my right controller in a way I don't see it, but the left just sits there no matter what you do. It also wastes battery life, as they are always on when the headset's on.

Ah I meant the light from the oculus home itself, but good to know they are working on actually being able to use the quest it in the dark hehe, would like that also ^^

Btw If you use a gamepad the touch controllers dont have to be near, and don't show up. (but remain on)

Oh, ok...I hadn't thought of the ambient light. That's where Bigscreen is good...choose a dark room if you want. I didn't know about the gamepad...that's good to know. I tried seeing if I could pair the controller from my Go, but that was a no-go...lol. Neither in the Oculus app itself, or the bluetooth options using QuickShortcutMaker (sideloaded) to open the Android settings menu in the Quest itself. Neither of them would even see the device as it's blinking, waiting to be paired. I was able to pair my desktop with the Quest through bluetooth though...not sure what that can do, but it's possible. 😛 I have a PS DS4 controller, so I'll pair that up at least.
