https://vrscout.com/news/facebook-oculus-quest-2-successor-development/amp/ quest 3 announced. Zuckerberg also confirmed the ongoing development of a new Oculus Quest headset. A direct successor to the Quest 2, this new hardware will feature compatibility with existing content on the platform, further expanding the Quest ecosystem.

“So we’re continuing to work on new hardware as well. The new hardware will kind of fit the same platform,” said Zuckerberg during the call. “So the content that works on Quest 2 should be forward compatible. And so that way we’re going to build one kind of larger installed base around the virtual reality headsets that we have.”

I’d be more worried if there was a date. I already know they’re making the next Fallout game, but that doesn’t mean I’ll see it this decade.

Well, of course they'll release the next gen but I just hope they don't rush it out too quick to avoid the problems that are occurring with Q2.

If they want to aggressively iterate and introduce new features and capabilities every couple years, while keeping a low price point, I’m happy to go along for the ride. Smartphones and video cards release new models on a similar schedule, at a significantly higher cost, and people don’t freak out about it.

That doesn't really surprise me after the comments from Gabe Newell regarding the advancement of VR tech.  The research and technology powering these devices is advancing so quickly that if you wanted a bleeding edge device they would have to release one at least every six months.

I just hope us quest 1 owners don't get left in the dust.
