Since to Oculus Quest 2 is tied to your Facebook account, what can one do to get the Oculus Quest 2 and use my current Oculus as a guest headset and be able to play games together?  #two headsets, one owner

great question.. i currently have 2 oculus quests. with 2 game libraries using the oculus authentication and accounts.  But with the restrictions on FB accounts (must be real names and that only one account is officially supported per person) That makes complying with FB account and authentication issues is going to be impossible with my existing 2 oculus libraries and my 2 new Quest 2's coming on release day.

I have spent a great deal on a 2nd library with my guest/family account and a second buddy/guest Quest 1.  Yet the new FB login requirements and rules make it impossible for me to go forward and stay within the FB account rules, and risk losing my Oculus library access.

This really needs to be addressed, we need to be allowed to create a 2nd FB account for folks that have a personal and guest/family Quest 2. Or allow Multiple Oculus-like accounts to tie to a single FB account and have full multiplayer and library support.

In a "Quest" to scoop up as my personal information as possible; not much thought has went into implementing a gamer friendly privacy and authentication strategy.

Please address these issues.

Oculus is introducing a multi-user system to allow a guest to use their Facebook account to log into your headset. This should allow two headsets to be owned on one Facebook account, and should let the guest play on one using their own username (although Oculus has not yet spelled out exactly how the multi-user system will work). Hopefully, under the new system you will be able to play multiplayer games with a guest without needing to own two copies of your games.

If you've already double-purchased games on a second Oculus account, you could perhaps link that account to the Facebook account of another member of your household, or to the account of your closest gaming friend.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

Thanks for your thoughtful and kind suggestions.

I hope that they are seeing these issues and do come up with a solution.

These FB account restrictions and mandatory use are ANTI-Gamer or at least Anti-sharing friend gamer.
No other gaming platform requires you to have only a single account per person and requires your legal name be used or else deem you being in violation of account policy and you may loss access to your Account and with it your gaming library.
--In fact I have several Steam accounts, Ubisoft accounts, EA Accounts, for various gamer reasons involving multiple PC's and allowing friends to play with us at our multiple device home..

Most 3rd party developers are not going allow a guest to play their games with a purchaser, in almost all cases you have to buy the game twice. I am not against that, in fact I have invested in an additional library and quest headset.

T.L.D.R. = all of my family already have their own oculus accounts and libraries.
With this new FB login requirement coming in OCT 2020, it will not be possible to continue my personal, and household /.guest oculus library's and quest gear. In my case each of my family members have there own Oculus account for playing multiplayer games together already. We use the household/guest library and quest for games that are just 2 player, so any of them can play on that account.

Not trying to be an alarmist or jumping on the Privacy concerns bandwagon, these are real gamer issues with this new FB account restrictions.

Thanks for your support,
Del

I’m glad you posted this and I have similar concerns. Every time I pull out the VR at a party, it’s a major hit and everyone loves it. While it’s not exactly the same scenario, they share similar issues due to the account policy.

I'm gonna need a definitive answer before I buy an oculus quest 2. If they are bricking up systems because it violates their terms of service. Has anyone seen a faq page or something on the subject?

This whole "facebook required" idea wasn't very well thought out and certainly doesn't make things easy for people with multiple headsets in the same family. And it's not kid-friendly either. I'm hoping that FB voluntarily or is forced to fix all these problems in the next few months, before my household runs into these problems.

They need to introduce sub accounts and guest accounts.
