All VR headsets are a little blurry around the outer edges. Best way to minimise it is to play with your faceplate placement and adjust the IPD. Usually no big deal when you are in a game since you are mainly focussed in the centre area (sweet spot).

It looks as if there may be an oily contaminant on the lenses. Cleaning them with ISO once in a while won't hurt them, and could possibly help with that. This may not apply to you, but you should be aware that smoking or especially vaping in or near the same room as your headset well very quickly form an oily buildup on the lenses (just look at any mirror or window in the house and its quite apparent how quickly it happens)

Also, if the lenses are not perfectly centered over your eyes you will get distortion of varying degree around the outer edges. This can be corrected by adjusting the headset and tightening the straps so that they still hold it stationary with moderate level of movement. Then, adjust the idp with the slider untill the image is as clear as possible.

Both mine have had that oily spot on the lens. They are brand new and it won't wipe away with a microfiber cloth. It also moves around as I move the headset while looking at it and it changes shape. The quest 2 gives me extreme eye strain.
If I only open one eye while holding the quest 2 and look around everywhere I can't find a acceptable spot. How could i read subtitles on a movie or anything with this? I tried taking a picture of the oil spill and it's not showing up?
Looking at my iphone which has a incorrectly placed screen protector with air bubbles, that is how my lens looks. Kind of like this https://preview.redd.it/srfopbfthk531.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=d2fb3a4177daa4026949c6d01...
