Need someone to tell me how to exit Dreadhalls (or any other game) on the Quest.......I can't do it

Yes, weird request.  I got my Quest a couple of weeks ago and have been exclusively playing Half Life Alyx via Link since then with no problems.  However, a few days ago I bought Dreadhalls from the Oculus store and gave it a try.  It worked fine.....except when I tried to exit the game back to the Home screen.  I could exit to the Dreadhalls menu, but that was it.  No amount of pushing or pushing and holding on either the Menu or the Oculus button would bring up a choice to exit the game from the Dreadhalls main menu.  All I could do was restart the Quest to get out of the game.

I tried the Space Pirates Trainer which came installed on the Quest and had the same problem.  Neither the left Menu button nor the right Oculus button would allow me to exit the demo.  I've been to Support Chat, but got no solution....except the suggestion of a total factory reset of the Quest.

Either I'm simply too dumb to figure out how to exit games on the Quest (tried all the other buttons and controls too) or there's something wrong with either my installed software or the hardware itself.  Could someone please enlighten me.  Thanks.

If a game doesn't have its own Quit or Exit button in its menu, then hit the Oculus menu button on the right controller and choose Quit from that pop-up menu.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

That's the problem.  The Oculus button on my right controller does not bring up a pop up menu with a "quit" option. Doesn't matter how long I hold the button.  The menu and Oculus buttons do nothing.

It should just be a press, not a hold... holding the button should recenter you (you should see an Oculus logo with a circle filling up around it when the recenter function is active).

There is a setting to disable the menu buttons during fast movement; maybe you're moving the controller too much while trying to bring up the menu? Or maybe you can try turning that setting off and see if you have more luck with the menu buttons. Do your menu buttons ever work? If you're in your Quest home screen, does pressing and holding the right menu button work to recenter you?

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

Yes, when I'm in the Quest home screeen, pushing the right Oculus button recenters me.  The left menu button does nothing, but, I assume, that's becasuse I'm already in the menu screen when I'm at home.

OK, the jury's in:  I'm too dumb to exit an Oculus game.  A fast press brings up the exit screen for games.  I was holding it too long.  Problem resolved.  Thanks very much for pointing me in the right direction.

whahaha I had the exact same thing, keep running around in the middle of the night and couldn't escape! Thanks for your question really helped me hahahah

I shouldn't be laughing, but I am. And that's in part because I did the exact same thing initially.

Lo, a quest! I seek the threads of my future in the seeds of the past.
