Hi guys!
I bought a 3m USB cable about a month ago which worked finefor Link and I've played 8 hours Half Life Alyx with it. Today though when I thought I'd start the game I had an update pending on the oculus app on my computer and suddenly the cable was no longer compatible with Link?????
Anyone had the same problem lately??? Have those greedy facebook-bastards removed the possibility to use other cables than their overpriced Link piece of shit that is impossible to come across???

same problem here dude i saw an image for a few seconds and havent seen it again since. have you been able to get anything working? usb 2.0 works fine but 3.0 just charges the headset.

Is there a difference between using a usb cable 3.0 or 3.1?

USB 3.0 is the same as USB 3.1 Gen 1 I believe.

If you’d asked if there was a difference between USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Gen 2, then yes there is. Gen 1 offers upto 5Gbps Gen 2 offers upto 10Gbps.

It can be confusing because there are 3.1 gen1 and 3.1 gen 2.
This page explains it well.  It's worth remembering that no matter how fast the cable or the port, if the equipment can't take advantage of it - it will always down grade (perform) to the lowest denominator.

There is also USB 3.2 Gen 1 (which is what the official Oculus link cable is)
