Oculus Link Incompatible GPU

So i have a GTX 1050 that Oculus says isn't compatible with the Link.

Why not make it so that all GPU's are able to use Link? I personally wouldn't mind playing a VR game at 60 or even 50 FPS, i can deal with that, but the app literally doesn't let me.

I don't know much about software, so i'm not sure about this, but i don't think you need to write special code or each and every GPU (Unless it has new features like RTX). But even if you needed to, what would take you so long? I've checked the compatible GPU list about every month since Link came out and i've seen about 3 updates to it. 1) AMD got supported (That's a good thing. We need more updates like that) 2) We got a few more GPU's added to the non-supported section (Basically just putting them on the list) and 3) The separation of 1060 to 3gb and 6gb.

Edit: Also, let us easily change the App installation path. It's just annoying.

GTX 1050 doesn’t even meet the minimum with Rift / Rift S, GTX 1050ti is the minimum for Rift. Oculus Link is slightly more GPU demanding.

Again, i personally wouldn't mind playing at a low framerate. Why would you even need to stop people from using a GPU?
Steam doesn't do it. If you can handle playing a game at a low FPS you can.

You say you wouldn't mind playing at 60 or even 50 fps, how about 20 or 10 fps. I had what I thought was a reasonable setup for playing most games.. VR is another beast entirely, I had to upgrade everything to get decent performance. Oculus knows full well how people bash and criticize on the forums. If they didn't make some sort of minimum standard, judging by the number of times this question gets asked here there would be a crapload of people with under powered machines bitching about how terrible the Quest is and how it barely runs games. Which wouldn't be good at a time when you're trying to promote VR.

People that criticize the headset for the hardware they own is plain stupid. So why should everyone with an underpowered computer be forced not to play? Some people may not get any FPS drops at all, but their hardware is just not compatible.

This whole argument about underpowered machines is like if you bought a game on steam, but you couldn't run it. You don't see people criticizing Steam for that.
I think almost everybody knows that with the link, the Quest is more like a screen for the games (Or a controller).
You wouldn't blame the controller if your game didn't run well on your PC.

and yet it happens all the time. Check Reddit/quest and marvel at the number of people complaining about performance that is directly related to their system not the Quest

I can back this man up and say yea - people will make your mind blow on how stupid they can be. They will get right up mad even if its not even your fault for how their system is. Its like they want you to perform magic on something that should be in the dumpster.

you can play man with your 1050.
I play on my 960 , no lag, damn...
Give a test before asking people on internet, will not hurt

It's not just about how powerful a gpu is, there are missing hardware and firmware features too.  The encoding bandwidth is not there.

Link uses a gpu to it's limits because it not only has to render it has to encode to.
