Oculus Link Issues

So I've been using Oculus Link a lot lately, and it's been working fine. My headset recently updated to the new hand-tracking version, and now Oculus Link has stopped working. My Oculus PC software is showing that my Quest is connected, and when I plug in my Quest, I'm prompted to enable Oculus Link. When I click "enable," the headset goes blank for a few seconds, then returns to the Quest home. The same thing happens if I try enabling it from the Quest settings. Here's what I've tried so far:

Restarting the headset and PC
Updating Oculus PC software (no updates available, and I made sure the public test channel is disabled)
Updating Quest software (no updates available)
Removing the Quest from the PC software and re-adding it
Running the Oculus PC repair tool from the installer (essentially totally reinstalling the PC software)

Again, Link was working great until this update hit on the Quest. Anyone else experiencing this or have a solution?

Thanks!

I'm using the HTC deluxe audio strap with my quest, and it sounds great when I'm not using Link. When I use Link, I still get sound, but it sounds awful. All bass/lows are removed from the audio. I can't figure out how to fix it.
I tried both "Quest Headset" and "Use Windows Settings" in the settings, but the results are the same, really crappy audio.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

*I fixed it. The oculus virtual drivers weren't working. Fixed that then it sounded normal.

Hey @eduwp90,
I figured out how to get it working again.
1. unplug your quest
2. go to devices -> and then CLick on "Quest & Touch" (shouldn't be connected!!)
3. You are now able to change audio settings. change audio from "Quest Headset" to "Use Windows Settings"
4. Check that your standard Output Device (like speakers) is active in Windows.
5. Plug in your Quest
6. You should still have the Red Warning messages
7. Start Your Quest and enjoy the sound!

It's working! The red alert messages are still there, but its working. At least for me... Let me know if that helped you, too!

Has anybody tried this yet and can confirm it‘s working?

Yes and yes ! Carefully follow EVERY step and it works.

It does not for me. I still get the red flag stating "No audio". I can indeed select Windows device if I unplug the Quest (which does not make sense frankly), but I only get sound if regular PC sound is selected instead of Oculus device.

Anyone having issues getting the Oculus Link to work even after following all the how to guides? I fixed my issue after a 7 day back and forth with the Oculus support team by disabling the Nvidia LocalService Container in the services menu. This service is responsible for the GeForce experience program.

Here is a step by step guide on troubleshooting the Quest Link issues. (after following these steps, my issue was with Nvidia LocalService Container in the services as mentioned above)

Make sure that your BIOS is updated to the latest version. Also in the BIOS itself, check the USB settings and confirm that Legacy Mode, Turbo Mode, and UASP Mode are disabled if they are present. If you need help with doing that, then please contact the manufacturer of your motherboard for further assistance.

If you still have problems at this point, then I would ask that you perform what is known as a clean boot which will turn everything off except for the Oculus services. This will let us know if anything else running on your computer is causing interference. To set up the clean boot, please do the following steps:

  1. Make sure the Windows user account you are using has full administrator privileges.
  2. Click Start and type msconfig.
  3. Select System Configuration from the search results.
  4. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
  5. Look through the list of services and make sure anything Oculus related is re-enabled by clicking the checkbox beside it.
  6. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click Open Task Manager.
  7. On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable unless it is Oculus related, in which case leave it enabled.
  8. Close Task Manager.
  9. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click OK and then restart your computer.

Some programs may not function normally at this point but it does shut most things down for testing purposes.

Go ahead and please test the Quest at this time.

Once you have finished testing that, you can then reset things back to normal by following these steps:

  1. Click Start and type msconfig.
  2. Select System Configuration from the search results.
  3. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option.
  4. Click the Services tab, clear the check box beside Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Enable all.
  5. Click the Startup tab, and then click Open Task Manager.
  6. In task manager, enable all of your startup programs, and then click OK.
  7. When you're prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

If you are still having issues then run the Windows diagnostics check which will find and repair a number of issues. The steps to run those are as follows:

Windows System File Checker:

  1. Press the Windows key and type cmd.
  2. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
  3. Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and press Enter.
  4. Once that command has finished running type sfc /scannow and press enter.
  5. Restart your computer once the scan is done.

Check Disk:

  1. Press the Windows key and type cmd.
  2. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
  3. In the Command prompt window, type chkdsk C: /f and press Enter
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to check your disk for errors
  5. Repeat step 3 for all other drives in use on your computer.

MemTest

  1. Press the Windows key and type cmd.
  2. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
  3. In the Command prompt window, type mdsched.exe and press Enter
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to check your RAM for issues.
Hope this is helpful

I have my own issue, so when I plug my quest in, get the all green test the cable (Partylink is compatible), then when I try to enable after hitting deny it just says that Oculus Link has Stopped over and over. I don't know how to fix this! Both the app and my quest are version 15 and I have compatible processors. How can I fix this?
