Oculus Quest - Now I have to buy a 3rd just to see it for the 1st time?

This has been a rough week for me.   Somehow, some way I am the person who has had a horrible experience just trying to get my hands on a working Oculus Quest.   I do think it was cool of Oculus to ship out my pre-order early.   I was super excited.   I don’t think I’ve been this excited since either the Atari 2600, Nintendo NES,  or the PlayStation 4 console releases.

Unfortunately UPS lost my package and they had to open an investigation.   Not a single delivery attempt made after the package sat here in Los Angeles for days.  My guess is that UPS lost it due to inefficiency.  So with the investigation underway I figured I would ask them to return to sender while I go pick one up at Best Buy.   So I made the call to UPS to return to sender.   I emailed Oculus for a refund on my Paypal,  then I opened a Paypal dispute since I have not received the item.
So today I went to 2 Best Buy stores to find a 128GB version of the quest in stock and purchased one... only to find out after a couple hours of charging the display is broken and does not turn on.  I can hear the sound of turning off and on, but just see a few digital pixels and a black screen. Apparently I hit the lemon lotto for some reason.   Now after talking to Best Buy they said they can exchange it and order a new one for me - For store pickup June 5th.   I understand they are being accommodating and UPS losing the package is not their fault,  nor is the faulty display on the Oculus Quest,   But I have to say,   This experience has completely demolished any excitement I had.   Now I am just deflated.  I have no idea how this all happened but quite frankly it sucks. I just want a quest that actually makes it to my apartment  in working condition.  I think it’s time for whiskey while I wait for days.

Just in case..., make sure the light to charge it is coming on.

Mine wasn't ,due to a piece of plastic coming off and getting jammed into the headset end of the usb cable.

I carefully cleaned it out and the cable now fully seats on the headset and it charges.

Yes the charging light had no issues.  Went from orange to green while charging.   During power up the light would change to white.   I returned it today and now the long wait for in store pickup for the new one June 6th.  After reading all the issues with the quest in the forums I also purchased the Best Buy 2 year replacement insurance.   Any defects happen,  get a brand new quest in store.  Seems sound to me.  I just wish I received the first one Oculus sent me.  I don’t know how long it will take to get my first refund back. 😕
