Oculus app won't let me enable Developer Mode - Quest 2

When I try to enable developer mode in the Oculus companion app, it pops up saying 'become a developer' with 'no thanks' and 'start creating' as the only options.

I had this all set up already and working for over a month, but I just did a factory reset on the Quest2 while trying to troubleshoot something, and now it won't let me enable it. I still obviously have the organization and everything set up, verified account, my oculus/facebook accounts are linked. Like I said, this was all previously working.

I checked and all the apps and everything I have are all showing there, so it's not like the account is wrong.

Anyone know how do I do this?? Why isn't it working now when it was all fine before I did the factory reset.

Found a solution:

Your developer account MUST have a credit card associated with it now. You didn't used to have to do that...

I added that, then I was able to enable Developer Mode.

How to do if you have no credit card??

Get one? I don't know.

There are some virtual credit card services online that I think you can link a bank account to and have a 'virtual' credit card. Look into that. I'm not totally sure because I don't use a service like that but I have heard they exist.

A chat agent gave this recommendation. I'm personally going to avoid this complicated route as I'm also worried if something goes wrong later.

Macinee: What you need to do:

-Make a fresh Oculus Account

-Do the phone verification thing (This option appears when you don't have a Fb account linked)

-Follow the steps to add a user (type in the name of your main oculus account that is linked with your Facebook)

-Change the role of your new user (your main oculus account) to "owner"

I just encountered this same issue. I discovered that both of my headsets automatically disabled developer mode all of a sudden, and the Oculus app wouldn't let me enable it even though my account was verified via a phone number. I added a credit card based on the answer above, and that allowed me to enable developer mode. That led me to realize that the reason developer mode was turned off was that my previous credit card had expired the day before. So, Oculus will automatically disable developer mode on your devices if your credit card on file expires. I reached out to Oculus to support to ask that they fix this but haven't heard back yet.

You can also use the Oculus Developer Hub to set up connection to your device. This should allow you to get Developer Mode on without the need for Credit Card verification.
