Please help,
My son has waited so patiently for a link cable for his quest, birthday arrives and he is so excited but it keeps freezing. He literally gets 2/3 minutes of game and it freezes. Our PC has all the recommended specs… so don’t know what to do.
This lead cost us £90 which is so expensive, especially when it doesn’t work properly.
Neither me or my husband are tech savvy, so any help or advice would need to be an idiots guide. I really hope some one can help as I have a very disappointed little boy.

In my experience USB-C ports can be particularly fickle when used with Oculus Link. Are you on a desktop PC or laptop? Have you tried plugging into a different port (if available). Depending on your hardware you might have a USB-C port into the motherboard and/or into the GPU. try changing if you can. Other option is to ditch the official cable and use a USB3 cable with the smaller (USB-C) connector at one end, to go into the Quest, but with a bigger (USB-A) connector at the other, and plug that into a USB3 socket on your PC. You can get longer 3-5m ones if you find that works, which will essentially get you more or less the same throughput as the official Link cable.

@vanessa.ross.79 The first thing your son should do is a little Google research. Simply Googling something like ' oculus quest link troubleshooting ' should provide lots of info and hopefully something will help.
Also, you can go to the Oculus support pages for installation and troubleshooting tips. If you cannot fix your problem after this you should contact Oculus Support and start a ticket.
Good luck and cheers.

Video drivers up to date on the PC? Otherwise you may have to revert to an older version of the video drivers. Try enabling the Beta (public test channel) version of the Oculus software to get the latest version. It's in settings under BETA.
Is the cable being jarred or jiggling somehow to interrupt the connection? Make sure it's secured to the HMD but not too tightly. Just enough so it doesn't move at the connection point when you move your head around or manipulate the HMD. You might need two wire ties to make this stable.
Are all PC VR apps are freezing or just a specific one?
Don't buy another expensive cable. I'm using a $20 USD cable from amazon without issue for close to a year. I have another off brand cable for about the same price which works exactly the same as well.

Hey there Vanessa, we always like to make birthday wishes come true! We'll do our absolute best to get him back into the game again and get his Oculus experience back up to 100%! Below I've outlined some troubleshooting steps you could try to alleviate any potential link issues.
Are there any updates to Windows/GPU/USB?
Sometimes there may be outdated drivers or pending updates that could interfere with the Link and its performance. I've included a guide on how to check for updates to your drivers here! The article is titled for Rift/Rift S but is applicable to Quest/Quest 2 as well.
For Windows, there's an article on how to check for updates here!
If updates are found for either, make sure you restart your PC once they are complete, then try to use Link again.
Game Mode may conflict with some VR applications.
In Windows 10, there is a feature called "Game Mode". Game Mode appears to reduce or eliminate background processes, and focuses performance on the active game. This could interfere with the Oculus software, as it needs multiple processes running simultaneously to function properly. Try disabling Game Mode, then attempt using Link again.
Submit a Support Ticket.
Collect Oculus Diagnostic Logs and submit them in a support ticket here so that we may look over them and confirm any conflicting software, PC/System updates and inconsistencies.
If you have any other questions or concerns, we'd be happy to help! Cheers!
