Oculus quest update in progress loop

Any one having this issue?

I received my oculus quest last night. Once I started it up it did an update as I paired it to my phone.

But after I finished the tutorial and tried to open oculus browser then a window came up telling me there was an update in progress and to leave the device on and plugged in.

The screen will also go black then come back a few seconds later and keeps repeating.

So I left the device on and plugged in for seven hours over night. At some point it shut off during the night so it displayed being charged to 100% when I put it back on in the morning.

After turning it back on I tried the oculus browser again and it came up with the same update in progress mission.

My plan when I get home from work is to factory reset the device and turn off automatic updates and see if an older version of the software will work.

Also tried getting around the problem by installing the FireFox browser but its installation always fails.

This does not help.  What he was referring to was a *temporary fix* for compiling new games for the Quest.  This does not relate to the firmware as this only enables you to compile games that are compatible with the legacy OS that our headsets are stuck on

I don't think that the support rep understands the issue.  We are on an outdated firmware TRYING to update our firmware to the latest.  Leaving it undisturbed doesn't do anything, hence the reason for the issue: "We are STUCK on the old FIRMWARE".

I've left my headset on, plugged in, connected to wifi, and COMPLETELY undisturbed for about 10-11 hours last night.  No dice.  I restored my headset and left untouched for the time specified.  No dice.  I've tried different wifi connections. No dice.

When we say we are stuck on a firmware, it means we are stuck, and the normal methods are not applicable to the situation at hand. Either the Oculus developers fix this as a software problem or at least announce that they shipped out a bunch of faulty headsets.  Either way, if this continues I am just going to return my quest and go buy the Valve Index or the Pimax 5k.

I have not heard back from the rep I was emailing with for about 7 hours now so I am assuming they are trying to find some solution. But again even a simple message from any one at oculus posted in a forum would be nice.

I got my girlfriend a quest last month and that one worked right out of the box flawlessly. I decided to get myself one and this one is stuck on the old firmware and won't update no matter what. Can't install any games or launch anything. I'm the lucky one lol.

I'm curious though how we all ended up in this ancient firmware... Maybe there was a container full of quests from the launch that got lost at sea and finally made it ashore? LOL.

Anyone know how to tell what batch the headset is from?
