Others getting feedback from me

Someone please help me! When I play games people are getting feedback from me! I don’t understand why, I didn’t change any settings that I remember would effect this but a few days ago feedback started happening. Sometimes I hear it through their mics but most of the time they just tell me that they are getting feedback and I know it is coming from me because I went into multiple parties and asked if they were getting feedback and they said yes.

Hey OmegaTrashBoat! Getting microphone feedback is never fun for anyone involved, and can be quite troublesome and annoying to deal with. We want to know if you're using the headphones or speakers, and if you're using the built in mic or a headset mic. You should use headphones when possible, as it seems like the mic is picking up the sound from the speakers and playing that back through the speakers again, which the mic is picking up and play back through the speakers again, etc etc.

I have always used just the quest 2. No earphones, mics, or speakers. It has never been a problem before. I have only started experiencing this very recently. It just appeared out of no where. I have even lowered the volume but it doesn’t fix it which is weird because again I have always played at full volume with no external headset or mic or speakers.

Hey Omega, thanks for the response! In that case, something must have happened either in the settings or on the software side at some point. If that's the case, you'll want to perform a factory reset using these steps. In 99% of cases, this fixes most software issues. If by chance the issue persists, you can submit a support ticket with us so we can look into whether it's the hardware at fault or the software. Cheers!

I did factory reset it and the problem still persisted, which also means it is not the settings as well. I didn’t think it could be the settings anyways since you can only change the volume. None the less the factory reset did not work and I submitted a ticket with support over WhatsApp but I did not have the unit serial number which comes on the box which I do not have or the receipt of me buying it which is also long gone so I am not sure how this affects the ability to be helped.

Hey Omega, thanks for your response. Sounds like a hardware issue, if this continues to be the case. As for the serial number, there's a few different locations you can find it.

  • Headset: On the right side of your headset, gently pull the strap back away from the strap arm until it pops off. Your headset serial number will be on the inside of the strap arm.

  • Controllers: Remove the battery door from your touch controller, then remove the battery. Your serial number will be on the inside of the controller under the battery.

  • Box/packaging: On the outside of your Oculus Quest 2 box, look for a white sticker marked with a bar code. Under the bar code, find S/N followed by the 14-digit serial number.

  • My Account: From your My Account page, go to the Devices section and your headset and its serial number can be found here.

  • Oculus App: Open the Oculus app and click Devices at the bottom. Your headset and its serial number can be found here.

If you have any other questions or need any other information, please let us know! If not, we recommend following up on that support ticket so we can see what routes are available hardware-wise. Cheers!
