Hi, I'm a longtime CV1 user, who was eagerly awaiting facebook connect for the announcement of a new gaming focused headset. Well, obviously that didn't happen, so it looks like I'll be going for a quest 2 as my next headset.
Here's my question: I know you can play both oculus and steam vr games on the quest 2, and wirelessly with air link or virtual desktop, but, do you have to be in the same room, or even building, as your pc to do this? For instance, is it possible to leave my PC on, take my Quest 2 round to a friends house, and still wirelessly connect to my PC back at home and play the games installed on it? This would be great if possible, as there are several things I'd like my friends or family to try that aren't available natively on Quest 2, google earth VR being one, but I have it on PC through the oculus store. Thanks.

Elsewhere in the same house is perfectly feasible if you have a decently fast wifi access point nearby. I do that myself. I suspect it wouldn't work in another house though, even if there was enough internet bandwidth to handle it. I believe the Quest and PC need to be on the same network subnet to detect each other via broadcast. Broadcasts are not routable between different networks.
