Please rollback new guardian limitations - I can't play 1/2 my apps now

I'm in a small downtown apartment, so I have a wide but narrow play area.  It was worked fine for me in the past couple of months since I got the Occulus Quest 2.  As of today, it won't accept my old guardian area, and makes me pick stationary - which is totally useless in most of the apps that I have been enjoying.   Don't give me the safety reasons - my old area worked fine.   Could you allow an override?  I don't want to turn Guardian off, that would be dangerous.  I just want to draw my own boundaries like I used to before today - Dec 15.

Hey thereNiftyNeal222, thanks for reaching out to us regarding your Oculus Guardian. The Guardian is an essential part in making sure you and those around you stay safe during your time in the metaverse. Let's get your guardian functioning as it should! We have some questions we'd like to ask to get a better idea on how this issue is affecting you:

  • Are you playing in natural lighting (sun-lit room) or artificial lighting (indoor lighting)? Sometimes, changes in lighting may cause the guardian to not recognize the room and prompt you to run the setup again.
  • Have there been any changes to the area? (Furniture, lighting, etc.)
  • Have you attempted to clear your guardian history? It's possible that your guardian is retaining old data which is causing conflicts.
  • Are you running any experimental settings? These settings can affect the headset in various ways. Try turning these off if you have any enabled.
  • Texture is also a factor with tracking. If there is not enough contrast between objects in the room, this could lead to tracking issues.
  • Have you attempted a factory reset? This will restore your Quest 2 settings to their factory defaults.

Once we receive the above, we'll be able to better assist you. Cheers!

The next day that I used it worked fine.  So what I'm confused about, is not that it didn't recognize my past guardian area, but that it told me that a minimum area of something like square (I don't remember, but something like 4 to 6 feet on each side) was required.

I don't think the lighting or anything changed.  It's a normal household, with some light from the window and some indoor lighting.

Yesterday, a new problem is occurring.  It occasionally flashes the view of the room while in a game, even when I'm inside the guardian boundary.

Thanks,

Neal
