Quest 1 with v30 Air Link Arrived Today

I just got v30 update with my Q1 today.  I still have not even got this with my Q2 or Oculus desktop app yet.  Both those are still on v29.

Although the Quest v30 update notes said that Air Link with the Q1 requires v30 on both the Quest and Desktop app I managed to get my v30 Q1 working fine with Air Link using the v29 desktop app.  Pretty well works the same as my Q2 with Air Link.  I'm still playing around with a few settings but I've got it working pretty well right now.

The main advice I'd like to pass onto other Q1 users that want to try it with Air Link is to make sure to use Dynamic Bitrates, not Fixed.  I found that 70mbps Dynamic worked best for me.  Also, if you are using any super sampling turn this down to 1.0x.  I also found it was best to take the rendering resolution down a notch (I went from 1.0x to 0.9x).  This seemed a lot more stable and allowed me to add a little super sampling afterwards to 1.2x.

I must warn you that if you start off with too much super sampling and high fixed bitrates you will have the most unstable thing ever, including your tracking going all over the place, lol!  So, you have been warned mates!

I cannot really provide a good comparison yet with Virtual Desktop (which I have been using for over a year now) because I still need to fine tune a few things.  So far, Air Link with my Q1 is looking pretty darn good.  Thanks Oculus and cheers.
