This started out with just the right controller, but now it's both controllers, and they have been doing it continuously. I purchased my Quest 2 from Best Buy on the 15th of October, going to try and get a replacement or refund. I can't play any games, especially Beat Saber, with the controllers freezing in place and spinning franticly.
If anyone knows a potential fix, or can confirm that there is a recurring issue please repost and share this post, and leave your comments discussing this. A lot of Oculus Quest 2 issues are being pushed aside as "Isolated Instances", such as the Native Recording issue where the audio desyncs with the video. I already tried restarting the quest, resetting my playspace, changing the batteries, checking for updates, all those.
I have smacked the right controller a few times playing beat saber, but I've never smacked the left one, and they are both losing tracking, so that's what's lead me to believe it is a Quest Issue, and not a "I smacked it against a TV 7 times" issue. X'D
I have the same problem with the right controller also since yesterday evening. The initial position and axis is off and when I move it can sometimes jump from one position to another I tried everything to no avail :
- rebooting the headset
- changing the batteries of the controllers (100% currently)
- re-pairing of the controllers - a factory reset. I just contacted the support with a video capture of the problem. Waiting to hear back from them..
This seems to be related to the latest firmware. Try to reconnect the controllers first. For me a factory reset helped. But you have to reinstall everything and your Savegames are lost.
