Quest 2 - Flat images have depth - Chromostereopsis?

Is anyone else experiencing it?
Every flat image, including images in the main menu, feel like they have depth. Red pixels are floating, yellow pixels are floating and popping out.
It's not the same feeling for every IPD, probably due to different LCD pixels alignment.

Is there a solution for this?

Never heard of that one before. In a few very rare games I did get the feeling that some surfaces in the background did look more like being in the foreground thus lacking proper depth - only observed this in rare dark games made for oled when using lcd. Not sure it's relevant here.

@vitovrallart can absolutely and totally confirm this effect. Red colors in contrast to black or similar dark colors are popping out. Thought it was just my perception, glad someone's mentioning it 🙂

Yep, me too. I've seen this before especially on high res devices. Probably happening due to increased resolution I imagine.

Will test tomorrow on HP Reverb, but I don't believe the resolution is the problem, more probably pixel RGB structure on the LCD screen. Quest 1 has non-such issues.

I believe it's the different display from Q1, causing brighter highly saturated colors to appear floating.
As well as the black levels issue.

I actually notice this on the Quest 1 at times and was not sure if it was intentional but seems more apparent to me in the evenings or dark days. Its not terrible in fact it looks pretty cool having the library pics look 3D -ish or it could be just the brain seeing them that way ?

Me too!

The effect is called chromostereopsis and I it a real and distracting problem with the Quest 2 and definitely not with Quest 1
