Maybe nice to have a thread to collect Quest 2 user experiences? 

I'll be happy to start with one from Oculus SubReddit:

First thing I noticed was the black levels are no where near as good as the Quest 1. But oh damn, that display is sharp.


SDE is NOT gone, but it is massively reduced. I notice it mostly looking at UI and reading text.


Thank God setting 2 fits my IPD best because the loss of FOV in setting 3 is really bad.


I was gutted the elite strap has been delayed for me but I was pleasantly surprised by the built in one, it feels more comfortable to me than the Quest 1 strap so far, let's see how I feel after extended use though.


This might be a placebo, but is the tracking more responsive? Just feels like a sliver of delay has been shaved off.

Agreed, inovator. There is certainly a difference, but that difference is not drastic. Even the video doesn't show anything drastic. 

I suppose hyperbole is part of the fun though. I shall now end this post with a drastic punctuation

At ipd setting 2, 63mm my horizontal fov is slightly larger than with Rift S. Biggest difference is vertical fov looking down. With Quest 2 i can see much more looking down. Default strap, default face cover.

If you perceive the FOV as being the same as the Quest that is great, but i am quite sure the Q1 did not cut off the FOV by going off the edge of the panel when someones ipd was 68 plus as the Q2 does, and i suspect the Rift S never did this to the FOV either.

Of course I may feel differently with a higher ipd. Mine is 62.

That's not the same for everyone, though. I'm sure others here have said they don't get the edge of panel in view - and I don't, either, with setting 3 and my 'official' IPD of 68mm. I did with Rift S, but don't with Quest 2 - but then Rift S didn't have any physical adjustment at all, so it's perhaps not surprising.
I definitely see less horizontal FOV in Quest 2 that in any of my other headsets, but it's not enough to really bother me. After all, the vast majority of the time I'm looking at what is in the middle of the view and rarely the edges without moving my head at least a little.
I'm guessing that after a few years in VR, you just become accustomed to moving your head, or view, to look at the object of your attention, so it feels less of an issue (if at all) than someone new or fairly new to VR, who may give it a really bad review because they simply aren't used to it. Obviously that doesn't mean everyone who gives it a bad review or isn't happy with it, but I'm sure it accounts for many of the complaints about FOV from those newer to VR.

Returned mine. I'm one of the unlucky few that cannot fully focus on the Quest 2. There's something definitely off compared to the Quest 1. It's not the IPD. It seems like the focal length may have been slightly shortened, just enough to take it out of focal clarity for me and the other unfortunates like me. I just ordered an original Quest, which had no such problem. Seriously disappointed, as I know they won't bother taking care of the minority of people when it comes to focal length. No, glasses don't make a difference, nor does cleaning, nor does the resolution optimization, nor does repositioning the strap. Come on. We're Quest 1 users since it came out. We've tried all of these things. Something has changed that causes it not to focus for us, and we're basically screwed out of the new experience. Seriously, seriously bummed about this.

Unfortunately since yesterday I'm having an issue where the headset refuses to go into standby. Tried cleaning the sensor, taking off the interface/pad etc but in the end had to switch it off. It was on all evening, hanging on the wall.

@TomCgcmfc - thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. Really frustrating so far as it's what I got Quest 2 for.

I've also looked hard several times and I really just can't see these straight borders on the sides that people are throwing wobblers about. To me it looks just like a slightly narrower version of Quest 1 as far as viewing area and shape is concerned, on IPD setting 3. I did see those horrid straight edges on Rift S - but that was software based, so probably explains it.



Everyone is different so saying people are throwing wobblers just because you do not see it is pretty stupid, more so when you mention them on the Rift S which were not there at all for me so should i say you are throwing a wobbler

as your main headset over the index. Is it 
The pc wirless that made you decide that?


Ask if the will trade his Index for a Quest 2 with all accessories  B)


The funny thing is that I was considering the hp g2 but the pc  wireless on quest 2 is making that option for me less likely.



depends on what you want, if you want the best looking PCVR then the G2 is leaps and bounds better than the quest 2...wired or not wired

People are throwing wobblers about it and getting very angry and throwing tantrums on forums - and please come to my front door and tell me I'm stupid.

Agreed. I was considering the g2 for the reason u mentioned. I never say never. I'm new to wireless. It will take a few months to see if I still feel the same. But omg for me the freedom of wireless is amazing. Shooters not to have to negotiate wireing is 2nd to none for example. Even when I played squadrons not having the cable for me made it more enjoyable. That I didn't expect. I would never have thought there was something more important to me than the best visuals.
