Oculus has initiated a recall on Quest 2 headsets, which actually means that you can get a free silicone cover.
Go Here: https://www.oculus.com/quest-2/removable-facial-interface-alert/
(Kojack: I edited the title to clarify)

@PITTCANNA Agreed.
Send your Quest 2 back and it gets returned with a silicone cover fitted so there really isn't much point oculus doing that. Easier just to request one if you feel you need it 🙂

Can I order this silicon interface by phone. Seems way too complicated to do it online.

Interesting how some of the media are reporting this:

Seems that we may seem a similar situation facing the Elite Strap problem.

If i remember correctly i saw a few cases of users saying the Quest 1 caused itchiness after long periods so if you think of the user sweating as well you have a chemical cocktail right up against your face.
It would have been common sense from day 1 to supply a silicone cover. Having said that there are people that have allergies to silicone 🙂

No your not mistaken it was called "Rift-Rash" at the time:
https://www.eteknix.com/are-you-suffering-from-oculus-face-or-rift-rash/
At the time everyone questioned why we had to depend on VRCovers to supply a dedicated "close foam" solution. I even wrote a piece in RoadToVR on best practice to avoid this.
Sadly a number of the early DK2 team had moved on by the time of the Quest development and so some of the earlier mistakes had to be "relearned"!

It's also on CNN and the New York Post - annoying with this much attention to negative VR news:

https://nypost.com/2021/07/28/facebook-recalls-4m-oculus-quest-2-headset-components-over-rash/
Some say that all attention is good attention though, lol.

Have to agree, its not good to see such negative media.
I think the phrase you were paraphrasing is "there is no such thing as bad publicity"! And agree that this has always been oxymoronic to me.
But I think things will blow over quickly. The news next month of the Oculus Quest 3 - and the adoption of full VR streaming across the platform should push these negative stories to the sidelines. All that needs to be achieved would be some positive statements about HORIZON.

Quest 3 already? Seems kind of soon.

" Have to agree, its not good to see such negative media. "
It all seems a little rash to me 🙂
Sorry couldnt resist.
